And the rest of the World wonders why we have weight issues in the US?
I prefer a good hamburger than ABT (don't like pepper).
Just like Thanksgiving, it will just be me and my elderly Aunt, but I want it to be special for her as this is sad time of year for her..
So FC, you have inspired me, if the weather is Indiana moderate, I will charcoal grill a couple of beef filet's baked potato dressed with sour cream, salad, steamed corn, relish tray and peppermint ice cream for dessert....
"My favorite time of the day at the Speedway during the month of May was just after dusk, after the track had closed down for day, I used to go out and sit on the pit wall and just listen and think"~ Dick Ralstin
I don't think we are doing anything special this year. My wife, dog and I are going to my sister's in Columbus OH, so I would have to use their grill if it I do anything. In other years I have brought my own grills or smokers. I just don't have the motivation this year. But, if I did, it would be beer can style chicken with apple juice in the middle and injected. Around the bottom would be carrots, potatoes. After it's cooked the carrots and potatoes are covered in apple juice, and chicken juice. The potatoes taste like apples. It's great. Just not happening this year.
I want chicken I want liver meow mix meow mix please deliver
Did the Standing Prime Rib roast thing at Thanksgiving (I don't like turkey and she's not a fan of ham) but I'm thinking about doing a Rump Roast with homemade mashed potatoes and gravy plus my version of Mom's Bacon and Garlic Green Beans... comfort food for Christmas.

Attempting my first standing rib roast tonight using Paula Deen's "foolproof" recipe. Creamed peas and potatoes, rolls, and salad. Mad Housewife merlot to wash it down.

Probably about as French as "French Fries"
I must say, that "buche de Nöel" looks and sounds delicious.
Ok it think French toast is maybe what we call "Pain perdu".
French fries we call them "frites". At home i don't cook them with oil but with duck grease (or duck oil i'm not sure how to translate).
And it's just fabulous.
We did the standing rib roast and it was excellent. Used a rub (paste) of chopped garlic, fresh rosemary, cracked pepper, sea salt, dried mustard and paprika with olive oil smeared all over the roast. Had garlic mashed potatoes, cheesy potato casserole, corn we froze from the garden, asparagus, rolls, a fruit salad. Desserts were Mince (not meat!) pie and Pecan pie. Yesterday I cut up the remaining meat to freeze for later (Beef Burgundy??) and made beef vegetable soup with the leftover bones. Now I can't eat for a weeK!
