So an F1 vet who has nothing to prove, is getting it back together because some fire inside tells him he needs to race Indy before its all too late. That there is just awesome. Alesi has my respect.

Better not hang around Dario, by the time he got done talking to Scott Speed, Speed was getting outpaced by a Dutchman that had never seen the track.
You cannot wrangle chaos. You can only try to plan for it.
Does he know what bumped means? If not, he better learn.
But he's another foreigner that no one cares about and he doesn't understand what Indy means
Sarcasm if you can't tell
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has
Interesting story line and if he does attempt to make the field, the story can only be positive for IndyCar.
Jean Alesi: [has Ricky in an arm lock] I will let you go, Marco. But first, I want you to say..."I... love... crepes.
Michael Andretti: Don't you say it, Marco. These colors don't run.
Marco Andretti: I'm not gonna say it.
Michael Andretti: Good.
Marco Andretti: Hey, look, Frenchy, I thought about it. So why don't you go ahead and break my arm?
Jean Alesi: I do not want to break your arm, Monsieur Marco, but I am a man of my word.
Marco Andretti: Here's the deal. He's not gonna break it because I'm gonna slip out of it right now. Houdini!
[he tries unsuccessfully to get free]
Jean Alesi: Whoa! Get down, you little pancake.
Marco Andretti: Someone might as well get me a beer while I'm down here.
Jean Alesi: But you have forced me to do this. You are now mocking me and making me look ridiculous. Just say, "I love crepes."
Michael Andretti: You know, just to put this in there, I had a whole mess of crepes this morning. They're just like pancakes, maybe even better.
Marco Andretti: Wait, are they the really thin pancakes?
Michael Andretti: Yeah.
Jean Alesi: Yes they are. They are the really thin pancakes. It's just a French word for them.
Marco Andretti: Oh, my god, I love those.
Michael Andretti: Put any syrups you want on them. I'm just saying, think about it.
Marco Andretti: They come with cheese sometimes?
Jean Alesi: Yes, of course, a fromage-crepe.
Marco Andretti: Well, why didn't someone yell that right-right away?
Jean Alesi: Do you know what's in the crepe suzette?
Marco Andretti: Oh, I love the crepe suzette.
Jean Alesi: With the sugar and lemon juice...
Marco Andretti: Yeah, the sugar and the lemon juice. Sure.
Jean Alesi: Grand Marnier.
Marco Andretti: I wo - I wish I could crawl into one of those right now. I'd eat my way out from the inside.
Good for him. If he tries and fails, at least he tried.
He's had a long career, and this could be a nice endcap to it. If he feels the competitive fire to try, I think that's awesome.

Yeah, yeah...that's all well and good & everything. Sure, Alesi drove with a passion rarely seen in this day and age but, like I posted in another thread, his wife is at least as capable of putting butts in seats at Indy next May!!

I could be wrong but I just dont see how Alesi is going to do any good in the 500. If there's a lot of bumping, he's not making the race. The guy is old and hasnt been in a car in years. I dont see it. And Lawguy, Im not going to put that evil on Alesi, Ricky Bobby.![]()
So true So true. A lot of drivers just dont understand what it takes to run aroung INDY. They think it is easy but Uh Oh Speghitti Ohhhhhsssss,.,, That being said. I hope he makes the show and gets to enjoy the feeling of being in the greatest spectacle in racing. Go getem openwheelers.
For some reason Alesi has always reminded me of Jochen Rindt. Driving with pure passion, fighting the fight for the sake of the fight. It will be fun to watch, wish him the best. Guess I'm just showing my age.
Love Alesi. Great seeing him have a go. Wish him luck and hope he gets into the field. Whatever happens, it will be entertaining.
à Indianapolis, Alesi doit passer le test de qualification, ce sera son premier grand défi
Alesi n'a pas de course sur ovale en carrière
in Indianapolis, Alesi must pass qualification test, this will be his first big challenge
Alesi did not race on oval in his career
Sorry for my english

I admire that fact that at his age, he apparently, still has the fire and passion to race. Additiionally, I admire his accomplishments in F1.
That being said, I have little reason to believe he'll have any success at the Indy 500, and I can't say his presence there has me any more excited to watch this year than in years passed. Good luck to him though.
I'm not sure i will succeed in qualify.
But i respect is choice. Jean is a competitor. He wants new challenge.

Jean could succeed to qualify at Indy in my opinion, he has one week to learn the track, the car so he could be fine, I really thing it will depend on the team he's driving for, even with the new "more difficult to drive" DW12, if the team can't set the car right, the driver can't do anything.
He finished second in the Le Mans Series last year in a Ferrari F430 so he hasn't been in hibernation since he left F1. He ran in the Speedcar Series in 2008 and 2009 winning five times and spent five years in the DTM with four wins to his name. It's not the same as running at Indy, of course, but 2011 was the first year since the early eighties that he hasn't raced full season.
The body is ok. He is training everyday.
The most difficult will be the track.
