paul tracy @paultracy3
@dariofranchitti thx for the support D , but its looking like i cant get the motor i need to activate my sponsorship package . Still trying
This sucks. So the lack of a honda engine is the issue. Thats just great. Sounds like all the stars are aligned but no engine supply...
Brutal ... cant believe he goes out like this... so close
More like Honda burned too many pistons in the testing so far. Let's not forget Honda already placed favorite sons Pagenaud, Sato, and Conway on teams, and looked like Luca Fillippi was next in line.
Frankly if PT can get a Honda from Indy on with Shank, that would be pretty good news. Having the Lotus may be a disaster.
Wanker!
Ya isnt it... I just think its a shame that if you show up with your check that you can't get an engine..
He finally has it all lined up and an engine supply is the issue? TC is that what the issue is? No engines available? OR is the CND$ tied to Honda Canada still an issue... Like if Honda announced tomorrow they can do 5 more leases this would be a done deal?
Who knew that engine competition really means teams competing to get engines?
Simple. Shank signed with Lotus. Then at the last minute tried to switch to Honda. I too would like to see PT in a full time ride but there just wasn't enough lead time for the engine manufacturers to produce enough engines. At least that's what it looks like.
And another thing. Even if Honda picked up two more contracts there would still be people left out with no deal. It's not the optimal situation for sure. But we have 26 full time entries for the 2012 season. Don't you think that's amazing??
So TC - is there a good chance we'll see PT running from Indy on with a Honda lump?
Shank has no money. If Honda doesn't get an engine for PT there is no PT, and there is no Shank
SOMEHOW Shank came to the party with no sponsor, no driver, no desire to run out of its own pocket, no team dollars....and people still haven't figured out that Honda won't sponsor a Lotus? That's just common sense! What do you accomplish by winning in that case? We are Honda....we wanted to win so we used some other engine? Great slogan!
I hope somehowmShank gets it together....I'd really like to hear WTF his plan was to run this year with nothing but a chassis!
"I think there's only so many people that can take care of themselves, and can take care of other people. And the rest of the people … they're useful in terms of compost for the whole planet, you know." - Bill Murray
If PT needs to find someone to blame for his situation ... he need look no further than his mirror. Sad, but true.

Thats right, having Honda Canada sponsorship is PT's problem because they don't want to sponsor him driving a Lotus engine.
I'm going to blame him for not getting Lotus Canada sponsorship. You would think he would be smarter than that?
Come on Brian, you are pulling out the "sponsors hate PT card" That's not right and you know it.
TC, at this point Shank is with Lotus and theres no going back, correct? Like at Indy when theres more Hondas available they can't switch contracts?
It sound like Shank's only option is to either run whatever he can with PT, or take on a ridebuyer whose not tied to Honda.
Wasn't this anticipated? I remember being surprised at the Shank/Tracy rumors for exactly this reason, because Honda Canada funded PT pretty well. I just assumed they had made up that funding. Did Tracy really think Honda Canada was going to stick their support on a Lotus car and it would all be fine and dandy? Or was he just led to believe that until the 11th hour?

-Dr. Stephen Olvey
Don't forget they had a sponsor back out at the last minute. i would imagine if that sponsorship would have materialized that would have allowed them to replace any lost revenue from Honda canada.

We'll be lucky to sustain 26 cars, especially when one engine maker gets blown out and doesn't want to play any more. Wait and see. This has happened so many tuimes in the past that it's almost pavlovian, kind of like a lot of the sicophantic embracing of this brewing nightmare.
But that won't be the end by any means. There will be a lot more to complain about once it starts shaking out. Wait until one motor emerges as the one to have and everyone here will be complaining that their favorite can't get the preferred motor. Wait until there are development motors for favored teams. Hell, wait until the motor cheating starts.
The fun has only just started. How you like them turbos now, Paul?
The sponsor that backed out was only going to run PT if it was a full season, without Honda Canada and without a Honda engine, the sponsor backed out when it was learnt that only Lotus was available and it wasn't enough for a full ride. Kinda pissy how this all works, but had it been a Honda engine from day1, Honda Canada and unnamed sponsor was in for the full deal.
Doc is talking truth, wait until we see the disparity of the engines and the bitching that will come of it. Lotus will be so far behind, mark my words, that the 5 cars running them will be at such as disadvantage. Then the " special" considerations will take place, for them to try to catch up.
Thats a guarantee. Patch and keep the spec even closer for everyone to remain equal. Not only will manufactures leave but will open the eyes of any other engine manufacture wanting to coming in. Why spend the dollars, man hours and resources just to be chopped at the knees, to be "equal".
And if anyone thinks your going to see wild, different aero kits between teams in 2013, you're flatout wrong. IC, your blowing it.
Works in NASCAR. When someone wins, someone else is helped. Heck we have our own history of that....Chevy ford illmor back in the day.
But I say "why not". What kind of goofy ass sport would say "you chose Painter as your QB, you have no right to switch to orlovsky". Of course teams should be allowed to fix and develop their engines. That would be like saying "you can't develop the car"....which we do!, and it's stupid! GO FORTH and COMPETE should be the rule!
