Maybe I was swayed to much by the vintage clips... helped me forget about the parts that made me cringe.

I'm expecting Bruce Webber will likely get fined in the next few days by the B1G. He called the 2nd half officiating "a travesty." Illinois was whistled for significantly more fouls but they seemed unable to adapt their play to how the game was being officiated. It seems Illinois fans are growing tired of Bruce and his whining.

    Shurna(?) is fantastic.

I'm struggling to remind myself where we've been the last few years because this team drives me crazy.

I can't watch the games live... they play havoc on my Blood Pressure and my heart rate. So I DVR them and then watch the finale on the Big Ten Network yo find out if I want to watch it.

Back when Indiana Played Duke in the NCAA's when Davis was coaching, my son and I both put on our Heart Monitors from our Bike Computers and we both were at about 180 just sitting on the couch watching a Basketball game.

Riding my Mountain Bike in the woods riding up and down ravines I was never above 125.

The team is still very mediocre defensively and that probably isn't going to change before the season is over. Fortunately, IU is one of the best shooting teams in the country and they've generally done a very good job of taking care of the basketball.

It looks like IU could finish the year with around 25 wins which will exceed the expectations of any sane IU fan. An encouraging comment I read a few days ago is that IU is ranked 18th, is currently starting no seniors and has one of the top recruiting classes in the country.

This team is very fun to watch and I'm curious to see how the season ends. It's already been better than I anticipated, so any further accomplishments are icing on the cake.

Next year IU will have more relative experience than most teams and will have an influx of very talented and athletic players who have played together in AAU. The athleticisim and talent levels will increase and I think chemistry will be even better. If they can be a good team defensively next year, it could be a very special year.

Sunday will be a huge game.

I'm not going to directly compare this team to the 2002 team, but there are some similarities. In 2002, Iowa was much better, but I remember the road win at Iowa kinda made me believe that team might have a little something.

Still kinda early, but if we can

    1) get everyone 100%,
    2) hold serve at home,
    3) split the remaining road games,
    4) make the semi's in the BTT,
    5) get hot(ter) shooting from 3

These guys might be able to make a run. That said, I'm reasonably happy with the season thus far.

    This.

Similarly, I used to run road races and my average heart rate was in the mid 120s. I can't say the same watching IU games. Still, it beats the alternative!

Try listening on radio. Was driving back from Hou yesterday, so I had to pull it up on XM. Fishcer is a little slow on the call sometimes, you can tell what is going on via the background cheers/silence. Frustrating hearing the results of plays, but not really knowing what happened.

Sounds like Hulls was struggling a bit.

Having been an I.U. fanatic since before Bobby was "Slick" (Leonard, that is) I gotta say this has already been a GREAT season. Wins over Kentucky, Ohio State, Purdue, and more recently Illinois (because of their coach......if indeed he is still their coach) have made this team one of my all-times. Yeah, I want more but I'm one happy Hoosier.

Iowa always comes to play no matter the sport. The problem is that were not as good as we think we are in the Indiana National Pastime.

IU left their heart & guys in Bloomington.

If IU loses at Iowa...then that lose, the lose @ Nebraska and the fact Tom Crean hasn't beat a ranked team on the road while at IU would IMO definitely signify Crean isn't that good of a coach. This time of the season you would hope IU would be peaking and playing well into the Big Ten tourney and then the NCAA tourney.

Would you please just cheer for another team? You must be the least happy IU fan I've ever seen. IU is 20-6 with wins over #1 & #2 plus a road win against Purdue yet you want to pin the coach's ability on the two worst games of the year.

    Good Lord, man.

As a Badger fan, I'm not a big fan of Mr. Crean. But, there is no doubt he is a good coach.

Two worst? They got beat by a poor Minnesota team and then followed the win vs OSU with an embarrassing loss at their place. December is so long ago in college bball terms....yes those are two good home wins veruses kentucky and osu but do they really reflect on what this iu team is right now??? Yeah, the purdue win is a good win for iu fans only because it is a rivalry.....but other than that it is a ok win...purdue is terrible this year.

Harsh, Truthie. Fact is, I'm praying we get to the NIT. Still have work to do to get there. This game was a lot of fun, though. If we played every game the way we played tonight, we'd be near the top of the B10 with no more than 2 losses. Instead we're 6-8. Still don't know which team is going to show up game to game.

I know it's taken Crean a little longer to put things together than some hoped, but I think IU is in good shape. The man can coach the game.

This coming from a guy who doesn't even have a degree on the wall from the university we are discussing...

Tom Crean has only one conference championship during his head coaching tenure...2002/2003 Conference USA.

Tom Crean has only season where his team made it past the first weekend in the NCAA tourney...2002/2003 when Marquette went to the Final 4 on the back of Dewayne Wade.

The following season Marquette got be in the NIT quarter finals (2003/2004) and then the season after that (2004/2005) Crean's team got beat in the NIT first round.

From 2005 through 2008, Marquette (Big East) never above 4th in the conference standings and never got past the first weekend in the NCAA Tourney.

So based upon that information, I think it would definitely be reasonable to conclude that there is significant doubt that Tom Crean is a great coach. Hell, Mike Davis got to the Final game in the NCAA Tourney.

I did think there would be some improvement seen on the defensive side of the ball by the end of the season but as with Crean's previous losing seasons at Indiana it appears that what shows up at the first game of the season is what we get all season long.

Hopefully this Freshman class coming in next season already know how to play defense.

However with that caveat I really like the kids we have playing for us now. And while they drive up my heart rate they don't embarrass me anymore. I've opened up my wardrobe and have dusted off the Red.
