Thread: The ALL Danica Patrick NASCAR Sprint Cup and Nationwide thread 2012

This guy is a fairly loud critic of NASCAR and has been critical of NASCAR's promotional push (Calls her the Queen of Hype) but some of the comments about her we've heard in the Indy car series is filtering in the NASCAR series

    Winning Hearts & Minds…NOT!

It seems that at the fall Richmond race, a young driver was on his way to the media center while walking in the Cup garage when he was suddenly shoved from behind not once but twice. And who did the shoving? Why none other than *******’s celebrity spokesmodel having one of her petulant frenzies and her accompanying bag, I mean PR lady.

Despite the lamestream media refusing to show the darker side of *******’s latest messiah, reports of her misbehavior and poor interactions with fans and other drivers still are making their way out of the garage area. As are reports that the lamestream media is receiving “suggestions” to spend lots of time singing her praises from the mountain tops. Or atop the scoring towers at the tracks. You don’t win people over by being rude or uncouth. Especially when you’ve already got a bull’s eye painted on you for being rude to fans and having a potty mouth. You do realize who the fans are? You know, the ones who buy or use your sponsors products & services. The ones who directly or indirectly pay your paycheck.

Btw I did a quick double check and she was in the Richmond NW race.
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has

So, some blogger I've never heard of before says that an anonymous driver said he was suddenly shoved by Danica Patrick, not once but twice. Considering Danica Patrick can't move without a gang of reporters following her every movement, I'm assuming this violent shove (oops, my fault...I meant shoves...plural) was caught on video? Surely numerous others saw this violent attack on this anonymous driver by Danica Patrick. Why hasn't anyone more credible than this internet blogger reported on it?

Jayski has a regular link to him and he's pointed out other stuff in the past.

If a blogger posts it, it MUST be true. No way any of those guys/gals have an agenda to push or anything with their criticisms of the same person over and over and over again.

+1 She has a camera on her almost 100% of the time. If this were true it would have immediately been posted on twitter and a video posted on youtube.

Here is an article describing her recent interaction with fans.

Danica Patrick was on stage for a promotion at Dale Earnhardt Jr.'s downtown nightclub last week when a fan shouted, "Hey, Danica! Turn around!"Patrick playfully spun her 5-foot-2 frame around, then kicked her hip out ever so slightly to display an asset NASCAR drivers normally don't share with fans.
"Well, I am a Go Daddy girl," she said.

Men and women in the Whisky River crowd howled. Patrick hammed it up even more during a question-and-answer segment, asking one of the male participants to turn around for her.

Her connection with the crowd was show-stopping.
"It was almost in the Richard Petty mode," said Doug Rice, the president of Performance Racing Network, who emceed the event. "The King has a way of connecting with fans and making them feel 100 percent at ease. So does she."

Ho-hum. Just add that story to a long list of " Danica Assault and Battery Sightings." My all-time favorite story is about how she tried to stab a fan in the face with her Sharpie.

In 2007 her garage was next to ours at Indy, with the mid-garage bathroom passthrough separating us. Every time Danica left her garage to walk the 75 feet or so to the bathroom she was mobbed by at least 50 or 60 fans, media, etc. She did a bit of pushing people out of the way, but wtf is she supposed to do, make every foray out of an enclosed space a rolling autograph and chat session?

I can think of several members of the 'mainstream' NASCAR media who would be only too happy to report on a negative fan interaction by Danica. I've watched their coverage and any time there is the slightest negative about Danica they are all over it...so if this actually happened I'm sure we would have heard about it.

Patrick, regarding the media and race fans: "I think if somebody takes THAT MUCH EFFORT to let me know they don't like me, it must mean they're still watching." In the same spirit--- THE Dale Earnhardt: "It doesn't matter whether they are cheering for you or booing, just as long as they are making noise."

Exactly ... and I'd say there's no more to say on this.

And to balance out the disparaging article I put here about her, here's a 1 on 1 she just did with the mighty P-dog.

I have less problem with Danica now than I've ever had at anytime in the past. In fact I think she's really matured as a racer since about 2008. I wish her luck and nothing but success in her NASCAR career. She really has her work cut out for her. Should be very interesting to watch ... and I will be. Never miss a race anyway.

Just finished watching the race. Son-of-a-b****! That was an ugly crash. And, oh Danica-- Please refer to the SAFER barriers, as the INDYCAR SAFER barriers,ok? (although I'm fairly certain that some fans understood that you were thanking NASCAR/Daytona for the placement of the barriers)

it looks like NASCAR now can record video from multiple cameras at the same time in the cars now- in the past it seemed they had to choose either the shot of the driver or the driver-view cam as an accident was happening

from the outside, the impact looked extremely violent but when you see a shot of Danica in the car it doesn't look so bad- those SAFERs are an incredible safety innovation

she sure knows when to just give up and let go of the wheel.....

That was a hard hit! The first thing that I noticed on the in-car cam was that she could have very well broke her wrist between her helmet and headrest as easy as holding onto the wheel.

Really? I don't see that a driver is just as at risk doing what she did. The head rest is padded, there is nothing there that would wrench a driver's hands, wrists like keeping their hands on the wheel ,,,... where would the torque on a drivers wrist come from by taking their hands off of the wheel as opposed to the torque keeping them on the wheel.. jmo, I am sure there are others that can weigh in on this and who far more qualified to address.

You'll only hold on to the wheel one time during a crash like that. Nobody's dumb enough to do it twice. A broken wrist really, really hurts ... trust me on that one!

Guess you have never been in a hard crash. The forces are enormous.

Anyway you look at it, it was a very hard crash. Eventually, they will release the G loads in the crash, but the Safer barrier was significantly damaged.

Regardless of what anyone thinks about Danica as a racer, that was a scary crash and everyone can thank all of the safety measures that she can drive again today. A hard crash like that is a reality check and her comments after the crash were rather subdued. It will be interesting to see the long term effects on her driving, if any.

I thought she was pretty candid, but I may have seen an interview a bit later. I do think she is a tougher than some give her credit for... and I understand the hard crash aspect, but had she left her hand or hands on the wheel, it would not have been a surprise to see her out of a race car this weekend.

Looking back at the "anonymous" reports about mean Danica, the one that gives me concern is that a driver is a pottymouth.
I let my 4 year old listen to the scanner, and this needs to be addressed.
There should be a rule that a driver is penalized if they say anything a 4 year old can't hear.
