Not really - probably just a function of more new people, etc.
I mean, really - it's the words and the usage that's offensive, not the way the letters look on the page

I commented about it to a moderator some time ago - apparently it had something to do with Dolan being tired of it - or the moderators being tired of him complaining.
Funny, I thought in some circles (including some TF circles) "*******" was seen as a compliment.
I think it happened here or it may have been another forum. In an off-topic, I was discussing some holly plants that are sold either tree-form or f,t,g, which stands for "full-to-ground", and is abbreviated "***". I am writing this now to see what happens.
