Panther Racing put up a cool video, above is the link. They were trying out some different on-board camera placements.

Both cockpit shots are WAY better than from the top of the airbox - very, very cool - hope they use them this year. Thanks John.

I have never noticed before but the exhaust is routed to exit straight up just at the rear of the sidepod, just in front of the rear tire, watch starting at 0:15, interesting..........

Yes, top airbox shots always feel 'dead' to me. Where as the left of driver low helmet cam you can really feel the road and the speed.

I like the camera locations. I hope they use those throughout the season.

The view looking back at the driver has always been my favorite. I hope they bring that back!

Here's some footage from KV with Rubens at the wheel.

What I really like about the onboard shot is actually seeing the drivers be able to turn their heads a bit to see the oncoming corner. Not quite like the 90's with all the free space in the cockpit (I know...due to safety), but they no longer look wedged into the car with the old Dallara.

True, but putting it on the top is the best way if you only have 1 camera on some of the cars. Unless the other car also has a left side camera, you're going to miss anything that happens on the right side. Will all the cars have cameras this year?

How would they do these camera locations though? What did they use to film these? You can't just stick go pros all over the car and have ABC use the feed. It would be really cool if they were actually trying these out for NBC Sports or ABC though

Pretty sure they're all just go-pros stuck to the car. Doubt it'll be used by the networks. Probably just the camera on top.

If they can do it in the 90's, they can surely do it now.

Wasn't putting integrated camera mounts around the chassis part of the plan for the new car? That makes a lot more sense than bolting something to the outside.

Isn't that asking for trouble on the fuel filler side? Seems like that's where the overflow would pool up.

Ruben's was running it quite on pace. The car just looks faster on board, which is a great thing.

The video (Phoenix) from the top of the airbox is the only angle the car looks cool for me

    Awesome videos!

    Very cool

Can someone tell me why the sound of the cars isn't the same as what I remember from the Turbos pre 1996? They just don't seem to be as high pitched of a whine type noise like I remember...maybe its the sound quality of the videos we have been getting but all of them I've seen seem to sound a lot different that what I remember....

They are lower pitched than the CART tubos. They sound a ton better than the NA engines. I've also notice they don't have to popping \ backfire noise that the CART turbos had.

Nuke the airbox camera mount, keep this. Basically the same angle as the CART onboards from the 90's.

You SEE the driver and FEEL the speed.

(also like the onboard location of JR's. Like a virtual rearview mirror)

I noticed the engine sounding a bit low too. I figured it was just distortion from lower quality mic pickup on the camera. Also, I sincerely hope these bad boys still backfire/pop like in years past. To me there's few more enjoyable sounds than someone pulling into the pits cracking and popping after laying down 4 fast laps at Indy...

Lower rpms (I think), fewer cylinders, different turbo/exhaust configurations.

What exactly is max RPM this year? In all the info to come out in the past months I think I may have missed it.

I was gonna ask if it was from the lower revs...now are these engines not capable of those Turbo era type revs of are they just detuned and could later be later allowed to go full on revs

At one point, the CART cars were reaching almost 16K peak RPM.

Not sure, but I think I remember the spec 12K for the new car.

Thanks for the video's, gentlemen. The car sounds great!!
