Anyway, back on topic, I've picked NMSU in one bracket, and IU in another.
Hopefully this won't be considered too inflammatory coming from a Purdue fan, but I do think IU is a little overrated. Not a lot, but a little. Despite a couple (very) notable wins. Heck, they're better than any of my teams, but they probably should be ranked closer to the mid 20s than the mid teens.
Cancer sucks.
Not inflammatory...its just your opinion...but I'm curious what it is based on. I didn't keep count but I would be surprised if less than 90% of the "experts" and fans in general picked IU as a 4 seed. When it is that commonly forecast I don't see how it can be considered overrated. IU had wins over UK, each of the three B1G champions, and swept their NCAA-bound arch-rival. I still think the only disappointing losses were at home to Minnesota and on the road to Nebraska, but every team has had a game or two they would like back.
IMHO, whether looking at IU or PU don't put too little weight on the fact that they played in the toughest conference in the country.
Okay...there's my non inflamed response.![]()
{sigh}
I thought/hoped that they would be ignored. My post said "Nip it Nip it". It was in no way shape or form aimed at you. That you took it as being aimed at you suggests a touch of paranoia. Or would you have preferred I said nothing?
Some folks just aren't happy unless they're unhappy.
I vote for no political talk at all. Sadly, even the innocuous and non-partisan stuff can cause a thread to get out of hand.
Yes. Used often in the CE forum.
Loses some effect when we have to explain it.
It is amazing the attention a president gets for his NCAA picks, but what is more interesting is zoo animals picking. Last year, at the Houston zoo, a seal picked either final four teams or sweet 16 teams.
And one year, in our office bracket, one lady picked based on which school had the prettier campus. She finished second.
Saying they don't care about his NCAA picks is hardly a shot at him. Here in this thread 3-4 shots were taken at Obama
Yes. Some coaches don't care much about the conference tourney anyway and if they feel like they've locked up a good enough seed will put more importance on avoiding injury than on winning the games. In an aside, I wish they would award the automatic bids to the season champion, not the conference tournament champ. There should be a bigger reward for a team's performance over 30 games than one that gets hot and strings 3-4 wins together over a compressed time frame.

Boom.
Western Kentucky might be a team to watch next year. Holy cow, what a finish to the season.
But those poor Delta Devils, oh, that has to hurt. I've haven't seen such a stretch of terrible ball handling since watching 7th grade basketball last year.
Yep. http://www.washingtonpost.com/sports...mCS_story.html
Western fired their coach in January, and had a 1 dollar ticket deal that only drew 2000 fans to their arena. And now they are playing Kentucky, in Louisville. Pretty cool!
I'm sure it will be the biggest blowout in history, but I hope they gain from this.
They were down to Mississippi Valley State by 16 with 4 minutes left, and came back to win in regulation! Hope a few more games have close finsihes like this one from last night.
Yep, kind of got my states mixed up. I bet they wouldn't like it!
Pat changed his tune after the loss tonight - Knight was disappointed but not down.
"I can't wait until next year. But I'm going to miss these guys," he said before choking up. "It's been a special year. To go from getting fired a year ago (at Texas Tech) and make the NCAA tournament - and it's nothing I did. It's the six seniors."
