Indy 500: Evolution for Xbox 360

Never realized that this was significantly different from the awful Indy 500 Legends for Wii and DS, but this actually looks quite decent.

Can anyone else provide more insight? Most of the people who are driving it on Youtube are terrible, and none are showing the menus/features...

The career mode is pretty good, but it does get repetitive after about the 4th season. You do get to see the Speedway evolve throughout the 10 years (different pavement and stands). There is a challenge mode where you have to perform certain tasks, which some can be fun to frustrating. The online mode is terrible (If you want the achievements for online racing, let me know so I can rustle up some people to get online). There are no car setups, so I wouldn't consider it a racing sim. Overall it's pretty fun, and easy to navigate through the menus. There are bonus videos showing old race footage. Bob Jenkins does the voice over for the game, and Tom Carnegie for the videos. You should be able to pick it up used at gamestop now for about 10 bucks.

I just picked this up for $20 this weekend along with the wireless racing wheel Microsoft has put out. RacingPortaJohn was pretty much spot on (not a single player was online when I was, so I can't vouch for that part). So far I've enjoyed it pretty thoroughly, though I could see where it would get a little repetitive eventually. I've played a few of the challenges and it seems like your car is always 10 MPH faster than every other car on track, but it's also pretty easy to lose control through the turns. I think it may become a bit too easy after a week or two. With no car set-ups, etc. it's basically an arcade game with a bit tougher driving mechanics than you'd expect. The ability to drive at Indy on a current console is pretty badass, though. Anyone on the fence about it, don't get your hopes up TOO high, but it's definitely worth picking up IMO.
