Just Me Or Season Launch Underwhelming?

Is it just me or has the series done a really underwhelming job of launching the new season?

I've been waiting since the last race for this coming weekend, can't wait for the green flag tomorrow, but there just doesn't seem to be any hype or excitement about things. New era, new car, new engine manufacturers, Rubens, multiple champions in field, new sponsors, but nothing.

Just really underwhelmed and that's on the series. Somebody isn't doing a very good job getting people pumped up.

Or like I said, is it just me?

    Its just you
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has

I've been under the impression that, generally, people are very excited about the new season and how the changes play out. I'm not sure we can blame the series for anything just yet anyway.

    So not just me.

Why no build up do you figure Dog-Ring?

Would it really have been that difficult for IMS Productions to put together a couple of 20 minute segments for a couple of half hour shows and buy some time on Speed between oh lets say one of the millionth repeats of Pinks or Pass Time?

Maybe a couple commercials here or there promoting the Sunday race?

Did anybody do the talk show circuit? If they did I completely missed it.

There has just been completely nothing.

Signing Barichello was big news. Bourdais coming back garnered some interest. The new car and engines drew some attention.

Ultimately, not sure what you want? The season launches tomorrow... at least for most people. Trackforum is a community for IndyCar fanatics, but for the average fan, the race is tomorrow, and that's when it starts.

Just don't really know what else you were looking for?

I think there's been plenty of build up. Not that things can't improve, I just don't see what really there was for the series to do differently.

I'm in St. Petersburg and the hype is underwhelming.

What about the magazines? Anybody from Indy Car make it on the cover of anything? What about some sort of viral videos? I haven't seen a thing. Did I miss the boat? Have those things happened and I completely overlooked them?

Friday night, last night, was anybody on any of the Late Night shows?

Jeff gluck is also there, he was a little freaked out yesterday when he first got there. Completely different than how a Nascar series is set up on a weekend

I think the build-up to the opener has been ok. There are certain things that I would have liked to have seen them promote more, such as the upcoming IndyCar 36 series; but, I have seen quite a few commercials for the race, and I think that is the most important thing.

Nobody has to read them......it's a discussion. Toss out some ideas. Make it better. I've already mentioned a few to get the ball rolling but instead you want to **** and moan about me pissing and moaning. Hypocrite!

So like martyrothrules, you clearly think its perfect and nothing more could be done to improve things. That the lead up has been a success.

Don't forget the cover of Racer Magazine, and multiple articles across websites discussing details of the "Turbo" movie in the last few weeks.

I think interest is as high as it's been in years. I feel they've done a fine job.

Fine? Fine in and of itself is pretty underwhelming.

They do have a big noisy parade and party scheduled, but thats on Sunday.

    Everything martyrothrules and AFColt said.

Also, Ashley Judd was on Anderson Cooper's daytime talk show a couple days ago, with positive things to say about the series. All those little articles, blogs, tweets by drivers and teams, can only increase people's awareness of this great sport.

Gonzo, he clearly didn't say that. All he did is provide an answer to your question about media coverage and promotion (with a little venom yes, but still)

Video streaming the practices and qualifying would've gotten me more excited. Instead, it's staring at T&S and watching some blobs go around on a tiny video window.
