Just for clarification, and to avoid ugliness...

...is any honest and civil negativity allowed in this thread?

Actually I kind of like it. The look of the new car has really grown on me.

I don't mind the look from behind. My only beef is from above and I was hoping that would go away once the green flag dropped. It didn't, but I'm still happy to have a new car and a new season. I'll get used to it even if it isn't exactly my favorite look.

They showed Dixon passing Hinchcliffe at the beginning, but yes, they've showed no other passing.

It just occurred to me that Will Power won the first race with the DP01 in Vegas. Would be ironic if he ends up winning today too.

No. Sadly these cars don't seem to be very racy, but it's a long race.

Sato moved up 3 positions, but apparently we're not allowed to see them. ESPN: Tell, not show

Okay, now that this can of worms has been opened, I gotta agree. This is the first time I've really seen these cars, and I don't think words can express how bad these cars look, from pretty much any angle.

Also, if the idea was to improve these events for those of us who don't care much for street racing, my first reaction is that they were not successful.

I don't post these things to start a flame war. I'm just giving an honest assessment, and I believe that reactions from people like me would be considered important to IndyCar fans and officials. I will not harp on these issues continuously. I'm giving it a honest shot because of all the changes. I actually had some hope for positive results -- it's just not panning out right away. Maybe in time.

One thing about the rear bumpers, it shows the roll angle of the chassis much more than before.

Too early to tell--suspect there's a lot of playing it safe today.

Smart of Will to pit. Why didn't the others?

My thoughts as well. It's early and the first race in these cars. I think they will open it up more as we go.

I like the way the cars look at speed. Start a thread and we can debate the aesthetics! We haven't done that before!

Visually, I agree with Will Power, these cars look super composed, grippy, and composed through the corners, but they look kind of lethargic on the straights. It looks like they can handle Another 200 hp.

Legge slowing on the straight. Motor? Things are about to get intersting!

The view from the back doesn't bother me so much. The side view bubble thing will take a bit to get used to. LOVE the sound of the motors.
