"Each day well lived makes every yesterday a dream of happiness and every tomorrow a vision of hope. Look well therefore to this one day for it, and it alone, is life"

We could not stop him...
...we could only hope to contain him.
"The number of threads by one poster in the OT is getting a little out of hand, IMHO. "
"In the land of freedom we are held hostage by the tyranny of political correctness...If we speak..we say it the wrong way; if we do not speak we are cowards…."
...and as I planned to be at Indy this year I was looking forward to meeting him.![]()
Just two weeks before he passed away I took advantage of the phone number he use to put at the bottom of his posts for in case anybody had a bone to pick with him over something he posted. I didn't have a bone to pick I just wanted to let him know I was glad to see him posting again after a brief absence. He told me he was awaiting surgery but the doctors wanted his heart to get better before they worked on what I believed was to be his knees.
We talked about Dan and we talked about next May. We thought we had time...
Or else he was just trying to make me think we did.
I miss Jack a lot... I miss the guy who remembered the same places that I remembered. Most of them were places in Indy but not all. It was difficult to bring up a location he hadn't spent some time along his journey. Before I met Jack I thought I was the only person who walked around O'Hara with a surfboard tucked under his arm trying to make a connection to the West Coast.
People who actually had the pleasure of meeting Jack have been more blessed than I. I remember all the years I was too busy, too pressed for time, to make my way over to Camp & Brew... But what I don't remember is why?
