    Crowd for Barber

    According to IndyCar.com:

Through its third year, Hallman said the decision to play host to the series “in NASCAR country” has delivered positives all around. The 2012 event drew ticket-buyers from 42 states and six countries, and the promoter announced a three-day attendance of 81,378.

The venue offers grandstands and stadium-style seating on lush lawns, and 52,879 were watching the 90-lap race. The INDYCAR Fan Village with interactive displays from commercial partners was augmented by a Ferris wheel from the late Michael Jackson's Neverland Ranch, inflatables and more for familes.

    Nice crowd isn´t?

    Nice course.

    Some good racing for position.

But Im sure someone will soon tell us why the entire weekend was a disaster

IF thats an accurate attendance they outdrew the stock car race today

But who knows if thats an accurate head count

Oh, they won't have to tell us; they'll just show up with their pictures of empty grandstands during the race...

Now a three day total is out drawing a Sunday NASCAR raceday, wow. I really hope you're not serious.

I thought the blossoms looked worse this year.

Never more serious in my life

Martinsville has a capacity of 55,000 now according to Jayski. http://www.jayski.com/pages/tracks-seating.htm

That link was updated mere weeks ago according to the fine print so Id assume its a pretty close extimate

Crowd at Martinsville was good but it wasnt almost 97% full

which is what it would have needed to be to get to the announced Indy Car attendance of 52,879 tickets sold

I see no any flaws in my reasoning.

No idea how the crowd was for the truck race or whatever ran on Saturday at Martinsville,

but maybe Indy car did out do NASCAR on the 3 day # as well

Or did the Saturday race sell over 30,000 tickets?

Of course they could always announce a crowd of 102,000 for the Cup race again and the usual suspects would just accept it as gospel

Guess you thought people were only located in the permanent seating areas and not general admission.

Where's GA seating at Martinsville? It's not as if you can go into the infield and layout a blanket. And the backstraight stand has been converted to mobile home parking. Is anyone allowed in there?

Here's the same old argument of unequal comparisons. You know how many seats there are at Martinsville and say it wasn't to capacity so you know how many were there and discount the announced number because it's higher than you want it to be. BUT at the same time you have no way of even estimating how many people could have been at Barber but you take the track's announced attendance as if it were written on stone tablets. If the sanctioning bodies were reversed you'd do the exact opposite.

The announced 81,378 for Barber would probably be a comparable "3 day total" for Martinsville.

Relax, NASCAR will still have 10 to 20 times the TV audience.
