Great article about Roger Bailey! Roger is a great guy and he will be missed by IndyCar.

Yes, the pictures really rounded out the article nicely.

Yes. So true. Why would you get rid of the only guy in the organization who "gets it".

    I'll type slower.

I know for a fact that nobody got rid of him. With that knowledge it is impossible to answer your question.

Did the article say they did?

    No.

New question: Why would you allow the only guy in the organization who "gets it" to retire and while the sport is passed into less experienced hands.

He was offered a position that was unacceptable, is that the same as being fired? He was certainly not ready to retire from racing but had no choice. I know this for a 100% fact he is my father.

    JB,
Thank you so much for calling out Truth Detectors lie. I didn't want to give up private information that would show he was lying and trying to mock me in the same sentence.

Do you have a birth certificate to verify that? (just joking)....

Considering how lame/irrelevant the Lights series is now, getting off that Titanic might be the best thing for Bailey (or anyone else). Hope he lands on his feet somewhere if he still has interest in racing.

"I'm also a firm believer that we should have gone with multiple chassis and introduced some competition. People say competition costs money but when a company's got a captive market they can charge what they want because they know you've got to pay them for it. How does that save money?

"And the other thing is they've driven the American racing industry--guys like Chris Paulsen and C&R Racing--out of the Indy car business. We've alienated a lot of people in the industry. The American racing industry has been driven away from Indy car racing and I think that's a very sad and very damaging thing. We've gone badly wrong, but nobody will listen.

"This is the first year we could genuinely not have 33 cars at Indy, including last year's winning team. It's all screwed up. The people who need assistance from the Leaders Circle program are not Roger and Chip and Michael Andretti. It's the Bryan Hertas, the Sarah Fishers and Dreyer & Reinbolds who need help. Randy Bernard has got it all backwards in my opinion. The Leaders Circle should be going to the teams who don't have the big names and big sponsors. A million dollars isn't going to make a difference to Roger or Chip or Michael whether they're racing or not. But to Bryan Herta, it's everything."

TD doesn't lie - he just doesn't. If he misspoke, it was because he was misinformed.

There is a difference between claiming fact and being misinformed.

JB, your father is a great guy and I enjoyed getting to know him over the last few years. Without his guidance, I am concerned with the FIL series' direction and ability to attract new teams and maintain its current teams.

    Understood.

Because it was doing such a stellar job of that pre-2012...
"It takes a special level of incompetance to make a schedule this terrible. America is possibly the greatest country in the world overall for tracks. To make a bad schedule in America takes effort. A special kind of effort. A kind of effort that only IndyCar could come up with."

Well The series is now left to one of the "heirs" to the throne......He'd probably do ok if he"d
    quit smokin.....
Roger had his share of Albratosses hing around his neck thrui the uears with lights which prevented him from keeping a growing series growing...All they had to do was fund it and leave Roger alone....but nooooooo$.they just had to mess with it ,d change personel.......To me its a "Road to Nowhere" right now.......
