If you go check out the seating Chart only sections 300-400 of the Main Grandstand are full. 100-200 are ghost towns. Plenty of good seats left in the South and North Terrace
Indy Fest will likely be a failure![]()

Admit Nothing, Deny Everything
Hmmm, it is April 11, 2012....the race is nearly 2 months away. It is no secret that walk up sales will be key to the success of the event.

"It's crazy how the Indianapolis Motor Speedway can make you so emotional. I went from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows in less than 24 hours." - Alex Tagliani
Jeez man... it's two months from the race date!
I'm going with my two brothers and my father. We're flying in on Saturday morning and out on Sunday as a Father's Day treat for my 81 year old dad. Is that positive news enough for you?
Didn't we just have a thread on this?
I'd rather have 10% of the world interested in the ICS than 50% of US that NASCAR currently has
I'm going, probably with 5 or 6, and haven't bought yet
"I think there's only so many people that can take care of themselves, and can take care of other people. And the rest of the people … they're useful in terms of compost for the whole planet, you know." - Bill Murray
I am going with my Dad. I still need to buy tickets too.
Does this guy sit and think of bad things to post?![]()
Get your head out of your past!!!
I was gonna go with my dad and brother, and then the girlfriend pulled out the wedding card...
Can't decide if I should go with Doooooooooomed or just h.

Anyone else getting closer and closer to trying out that "ignore" feature?
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be misquoted and used against you.
Yeah, we've got a group headed out for the race...we just haven't bought tickets, yet. I'll worry when it's a couple of weeks before the event and the stands are really, really empty.
Real drivers don't need fenders!
I know that in the past many of the ticket purchases were at the gate and were not paid before the race. I wouldn't be surprised if this was the case this year. I am worried about the lack of promotion throughout the Milwaukee area and if Micheal really wants this thing to succeed he better get his going on this.
"The only good horsepower is usable horsepower.."
i remember when they raced at RIR you could get tickets everywhere the day before the race. the walk up was that big. im hopeful that will be the case here.
I don't know the motivation of the original poster, I purchased my tickets the day they went on sale, I want the race to continue and I hope there's a huge crowd.
But what I do know is that it ain't fishing it's severely uniformed. If you take a second to go to the IndyFest ticket selling site if you think section 409 being sold out. I suspect those seats were held for sponsors by Andretti because they were gone the first day. But apparently someone was too busy to scroll down and see that very few of the 400 sections are anywhere near to being sold out. Much more like most of them have the top row or two sold and some seats on the aisle. Don't believe me, it's easy and free to go to the site and look around.
I have a tough time believing that the vast majority of the tickets sold are going to be due to walk up sales. The strong walk up is what someone who isn't selling advance tickets says to deflect criticism but at least that should come from the promoter not the fans making excuses for him. The issue I have is two months prior to the race they have done no advertising. What was near the top of the list of problems people shouted about with the event last year, a lack of promotion which resulted in poor ticket sales. Now that the season is going to be three aces in it would seem to be the time to start advertising. Brazil isn't going to add much attention and waiting to ride the coattails of the 500 means less than three weeks of promotion.

I'm going but have not purchased my tickets yet.

Does anyone wonder if having Milwaukee on June 16 and Iowa on June 23 could hurt ticket sales at both. Milwaukee is 300 miles from Iowa. I am contemplating going to Milwaukee but with Iowa, my home track, the next week...
This week I emailed Iowa Speedway with a suggestion of bring your Milwaukee ticket and get a general admission ticket for X amount. If Iowa offered somwthing like this how many would consider doing the double???

The race will go on and will probably be pretty good in that way it will be a sucess. I dont have money invested outside of my ticket but I would like it to return every year. I do not plan on worrying about the business side or if the attendence is good enough for it to return. I live in Milwaukee and did my part by buying a ticket and will be entertained.
Wife was awesome enough to get me a ticket as a Father's Day present. Going to be bringing my brother along. She even got us the VIP passes!
One interesting, and hopefully positive, thing to note is that she said that several hotels reported they were booked when she was trying to get our accomodations. Hopefully this is an indication that ticket sales are strong. However, it could also be that the Brewers are playing a geographical foe in the Minnesota Twins.
Either way I plan on having a hell of time.
Bring on the cars, beer, and hangover!
