We are as far north as Anchorage (52°North) so it can look similar sometimes.

It's not my backyard. Maybe it belongs to one of you. I just flew over it a few weeks ago.

Anchorage is at 61 degrees N, 52 is Calgary, Vancouver is 49. I was in Kotzebue, Alaska last week, they are at almost 67N, 35 miles north of the Arctic Circle which is 66, 33m.

So it is Calgary. I knew it was some big city in the north.
The farthest north I ever was, was Trondheim, Norway. 63+North.

    That's seriously beautiful.

    I've climbed/skied the following volcanoes:

Mt Lassen - great shot of mid-Summer snow fields. also done Jan/Feb ascent/descent.

Mt Shasta - This mountain does not like me.

Mt McLoughlin - We turned the summit into the equivalent of the Snake Pit. Everyone had hauled up a ton of booze.

Mt Hood - some guy died that weekend

Yeah, ain't it? Down on the Alaska Peninsula on a rare nice day. Nobody lives there because the weather is so unrelentingly awful.

I like in Anchorage how you can see Denali and Forraker both from the city and they're very far away.

Judging by the way the peak abruptly ends, Id assume it blew up in a very big way a long time ago.

It was almost that bad my first year of college out in Oregon. Flew into Portland took the campus shuttle to my dorm got settled and was invited to play a game of football on the Commons and first time I caught a pass I started to head down field when I spotted Mt. Hood. I stopped dead in my tracks in awe and got creamed from behind.

But it wasn't even my first time to see a mountain or even Mt. Hood... it was the realization that this would be my routine view for some time to come.

I live in Colorado. Don't move here, there is no scenery. Don't move here, the sun only shines a little over 300 days a year. Don't move here, we often ski and play golf on the same weekend.

Sounds like when I was living in New Mexico. the saying was that everyone wanted to move there but they just want to be the last person to move there

My kiddo goes to school in Golden. After only a year, I think we've officially lost him to the Rockies. It will be hard trying to convince him to move back to Oklahoma.

It's a tough program, but he's eating it up. He LOVES that school. And, of course, the school love my HUGE tuition checks. :/
