I wonder if they asked Tommy Lasorda his opinion of Hamilton's performance...

So, before the season, especially after the latest relapse and bathroom bang at the local pub, Rangers management seemed to be waiting to see how this year played out before bidding on Josh (he's in his last year).

Now what? Obviously, you have to make an effort to sign him, but at what price? I'm assuming $20MM/year for starters, but for how long, given his injury and "other" risks? Josh also mentioned before the season that he felt he didn't owe the Rangers a "discount" for believing in him when no one else did.

How much do we offer him?

I think he's too much of an unknown.

The only reasonable solution is to give him back to the Reds...

No, the Rangers should trade him to the Astros for some of our minor league outfielders.

Further proof that Dallas Sportsradio is the best out there...

Ben & Skin in Josh Hamilton

"The Ticket" should have kept these guys - they are too good for the local ESPN affiliate.

    Rookie Mistake

BALTIMORE -- Texas Rangers clubhouse manager Richard "Hoggy" Price got the fastest clubhouse attendant he could find -- 19-year-old Mike Apicella -- and put a blue jersey with Robbie Ross' name on it in his hands and told him to "stop for no one" as he sprinted to the bullpen.

The reason for the rush was that Ross had a rookie moment Thursday, warming up during the eighth inning with a gray jersey on. The only problem? The Rangers were wearing blue tops for Game 2 of the doubleheader. They wore gray for the first game.

"After the first game, I came in here and ate and left my sweatshirt on," Ross said from the clubhouse following the game. "I ran out to the field. So when they told me to get up and get ready, I was still wearing the gray jersey. I was like, 'Oh my gosh.' Actually, I looked up and (Scott) Feldman and (Mark) Lowe are looking at me. They told me to calm down and throw the ball and they'd get me a jersey."

Ross took some ribbing from teammates for the mistake, as you can imagine. But he stopped at one point during his warmups and put the blue jersey on. Turns out, he wasn't needed to go into the game.

"If I have to wear the wrong jersey for us to get a 'W,' that's fine with me," Ross said.

Ross said he isn't sure what to expect in terms of a Kangaroo Court fine, but something is bound to be coming on that front. Ross is already in charge of the pink backpack full of items the relievers may need during their time in the bullpen during games. He has to wear a cowboy outfit complete with stuffed pony to the bullpen before each game, too. Ross does a good job of taking it all in stride.

But he'll be sure to wear the correct jersey from now on.

While I am mostly a traditionalist in baseball (no freaking DH) I don't mind alternate uniforms. But that is one of thepotential problems I guess.

Astros beat Bucs 1-0 last night. The team has good pitching and is doing much better than anyone thought. Brett Myers is now 9-9 in save situations.

    Astros Win, Astros Win!

Ok, it was just the Cubs, but we won. Bud Norris is 4-0 in May with an 0.35 ERA. And we hit 3 homers in the 8-4 victory. Norris pitched 7 shutout innings then the bullpen gave up 4 in the 9th.

So, there's a distinct chance the Diamondbacks may be done vis a vis division hopes. Never trust a surprise team the year after...

Though, I've gotten some good feedback for this, and yes I will promote other stuff... because I have no shame

Astros get another good pitching performance. JA Happ goes 6 innings with only 1 run allowed and the bullpen makes it hold up. Myers gets 11th save of season and Astros beat Cubbies 2-1. Final game of series tonight with Wandy Rodriguez on the mound for the suprising Astros.

Lot of teams getting fat off the Cubs this year.

That's not to say the Astros haven't been overachieving though. I certainly hope they take care of the Cardinals when necessary!

The Astros are supposed to beat the Cubs, but the Astros are 20-23, which no one expected. They are a very good team at home and really stink on the road. They will suprise some folks this season if the pitching holds out. We are 2-1 versus the Cards this year, but that was at home. Of course we are 1-2 against the Reds, but that was on the road.

But reality returns this weekend as the Astros travel to LA to play the Dodgers and their MLB best record. Hoping to 2 of 3 but realistically expecting only 1 win.

But they are a young team that is fun to watch.

And "the Boot" is still up for grabs.

Gonna be hard rooting against the Astros as a division rival, after growing up a fan until migrating to Dallas. I may be one of those, "if not us, then them" type of fans when it comes to the divisional title. Keep it in the state, I guess?

That is another thing that really sucks about the Astros moving to the American league. My second favorite MLB team is the Rangers. Now I have to pull for the Rangers to finish second every year.

Will be in Arlington Father's Day to watch the Rangers and Astros battle for the boot. What a cool Father's Day gift.

The Brewers are my second favorite team, behind the Reds.

Rooting for a division rival isn't so hard for me.

The Cubs' Reed Johnson hit a first inning home run at Houston.
It was the first time the Cubs led in a game since last Wednesday!
    Have a very blessed day!

The Cubs ended up losing 5-1. Another good performance from Samardzjia wasted!
It's the first 9 game losing streak since 2002 for the Cubs.

But you must remember, it was the Astros, last year's worst team. We only won 56 games last year and already have 21 wins this year and it's not even June.

And as I said, it will be back to reality with the Dodgers on the road, were we suck (5-13). But who knows, these kids (along with the old guys Brett Myers and "El Caballo" Carlos Lee) are a lot of fun to watch and are winning games this year that they would have lost last year.

But yes, we know it was just the Cubs.

It's almost June and the Chisox are still keeping it interesting, and actually ahead of the Tigers. Exceeds most expectations anyway. Considering he had the worst year ever in the history of baseball last year, they should give Adam Dunn the Comeback Player award now.

    Hey, Vasserfan:

Why was the Astros' game in Colorado on Tuesday moved up to Memorial Day to create a doubleheader? It's EXTREMELY rare for doubleheaders to be regularly scheduled these days -- especially when they create an off day during the series.

I know postponed games are often made up as doubleheaders, but this appeared to be the reverse -- moving the second game of a four-game series UP a day to start with a doubleheader.

Seven in a row for the Chisox, and now in 1st place in the AL Central. Last two coming against the Rays, in Tampa.

    Old school, Memorial Day tradition?

Listening to the Rangers-Mariners on XM driving back through Arkansas Monday night, and Tom Grieve (ex-Ranger player and GM, and now color commentator) mentioned that memorial Day used to always be a double-header day, along with 4th or July, and Labor Day.

    I dunno?
