Assuming no-one crashes out, Legge is bumped (more likely can't qualify fast enough). There's your field.

For being the first year of this formula, I am actually pleased to have 26 on every grid and a full field at Indy. I was in no way expecting a lot of bumping, as you know some predicted there would not be 33.

So screw all this talk, it's time to enjoy the event.

JR Hildebrand has it. He must be stuck in traffic.

Mentioned on Trackside on Tuesday night were three drivers who were still looking at Indy rides, but were in various stages of having what it takes to participate, i.e. - the Funding, a Team, and an Engine lease:

Driver "A": Has funding and has a team, but can't get an engine lease
Driver "B": Has funding, but can't find a team or an engine lease
Driver "C": Has a team and an engine lease, but can't drum up enough funding

Does anybody have the investigative skills to determine who these drivers are? The situation of Driver "A" has me appauled. They have a team with a crew and funding, yet because of the engine issues of this year can't participate. To me this is a SFHR issue all over again.

Driver "A": Has funding and has a team, but can't get an engine lease (Jean Alesi)
Driver "B": Has funding, but can't find a team or an engine lease (Alex Lloyd or Pippa Mann)
Driver "C": Has a team and an engine lease, but can't drum up enough funding (Bryan Clauson)

I think we see Chevrolet pull out a 15 engine lease to be completely honest. They are even quoted as to saying they might.

    my guesses:

    Driver A - Pippa Mann/D&R
    Driver B - Jay Howard
    Driver C - Paul Tracy/Michael Shank Racing

The official list shows no T cars. It's been a while since we've had an entry sheet that fits on one 8 1/2" x 11" page.

It will be interesting to see how Carpenter's team fairs on an oval. With Rice added this could be a strong team assuming they have good engineering. I know they were slow at the Indy test but they were having engine problems I believe too. I'm still hopeful someone throws an engine in their backup car and bumps their way in.

I'm thinking who gets left out will come down to Legge, de Silvestro, Alesi, Fillippi/Jourdain, and maybe Clauson (we'll see how strong Fisher's oval program is first)

I can't see Jourdain missing in a RLR car.

RLR has been plenty fast in their one-offs the past few years.

Unless Lotus is given some of kind of boost aid, which I don't see happening, if all these entries are finalized, bump between Simona, Alesi, and Legge.

I bet no one picked RHR to get bumped last year. I'm not disagreeing with you, but I wouldn't be suprised if we see a Honda or Chevy get bumped.

I think Tag will be the one on the side line unless he gets a new engine or ECU. Something is very wrong with his engine package. This year want be the fastest 33 it will be the most durable 33.

i have a buddy that works there and i have told him multiple times that i think they will have a pole and a win with sato this year. they are the most surprising team on their early performance as a full time team and with new car/engine.

Seeing how SFR won the last oval race, I imagine that they'll be ok.

    It's true, you never know.

I remember hearing a year ago on this board how Pippa wouldn't make the race. Instead, RHR and Conway were on the outside.

2 years ago, it was Saavedra and Sato. Instead, TK barely made the race and Paul Tracy didn't.

Nothing is ever certain, be it Clauson, Legge, Simona, or anyone else in the field.

Seeing how her oval program won the last oval ran, I would guess it would be better then several others.

So if PT shows up with a drivers suit and a helmet, he might get picked up due to 'circumstances'.

Alesi will likely give her a run for her money. Thats if he even makes it to qualifying. He may be bumped before bump day

Really happy to see Bryan offically entered into the 500. I love the fact they are using his midget number too.

In equal equipment I'd take Alesi over several over drivers on the list. Then again, the 500 isn't supposed to be about equal equipment, is it?

Back in the day sure, at age 47 and without being in a car this tough in years, N-O.
