the cars should be able to be adjusted to run on any track...including Vegas
They can be, but the problem is more of a business one than an engineering one.

Maybe even a POP culture one

As pointed out elsewhere at TF, the cookie cutters remind me of the old 1970's era multi-purpose MLB/NFL stadiums... bland & uninspiring.
I agree, Texas would be the exception IMO

What's interesting is that Kansas wants a spring night race, meaning if it happened for 2013, they could technically host IndyCar around their old date in early May.

...and my party would be there again. We would also plan a stop at Oklahoma Joes at 47th and Mission.

The crowd for the Kansas Cup race, and I was in it, far exceeded any INDYCAR race at that track and went to 6 of them. The rapid decline in the crowd for INDYCAR races there followed the end of requiring ticket packages to be sold and who yelled, cried and demanded that? INDYCAR fans and plenty of them right here on TF but you don't see them bragging about it.

The talk at that NASCAR race this weekend was of the track now having lights, and not using them. They supposedly moved this Cup/Truck weekend to April from June last year so they would have enough time before October to pave the track and test. They picked this past weekend because it was the only one they could fit a date in. It is believed NASCAR and the track would like to move this race back to June or maybe July and run it at night and use those lights. Where that would fit and what other dates might have to shift who knows but it would might sell the place out.

The second part is the infield road course which will have a GrandAM race in 2013. Kansas with the new casino wants as many dates as they can get. If they do move the first Cup date several possibilities open for INDYCAR. With the condensed month at Indy they could run at Kansas the first or even second weekend of May, giving them an oval right before the 500. There could be a Truck date available in that time frame for a Saturday race or a GrandAm date. If the new road course is good enough this would be a place to try a rc/oval doubleheader, oval practice and qualifying on Friady, a road race with GrandAM on Saturday and the oval on Sunday. This would put cars on the track constantly on Saturday which is what street course fans want ovals to copy.

Going from 15 to as much as 20 at Kansas on a brand new pavement is I think just too much for IndyCar. Not unless they took all the downforce away, which they seem to refuse to want to do, no matter who is in charge.

I have have been going to MIS since 1982 and have never heard a single word about it being progressive banking. NEVER. It always allowed for four wide racing because it was so wide and the turns so sweeping with easy transitions but unless you can show me where some mention on the specs of the track includes progressive banking, you're wrong.
