This is being called here as the "Rubens Effect". But I went to the first 2 years, and we crowded the grandstands either way.

Excellent. A race that could be sold out in a time zone where people can watch. Nothing wrong with that.

I hope Rubens, TK and Helio kill it and make it worth the fans' while.

Yea, they haven't had a brazilian winner yet. If one of them did, it'd be pretty mega for IndyCar down there.

Sao Paulo may very well be the equivalent, if not greater than, Lexington after UK won the National Championship if one were to win. Bia not so much I don't think, but the other 3 Brazilians would cause quite a show.

Apparently the past couple years, Bia has been THE draw in comparison to TK & Helio. She's like the Brazilian equivalent of Danica down there.

Figured they'd smash the attendance mark with Rubens in the race, my only real problem with Sao Paulo is for TV ratings I think a race in Rio would catch the casual fans interest more, it's just sexier. If we are gonna be stuck with a bunch of street courses I think they should at least be in exotic cities.

I think Will Power will easily become a villain in Brazil if he wins 3 Sao Paulos in row, especially with Rubens in the fold this year.

She is. She's all over the national and regional TV right now.

Here she is racing karts against TK, Helio, Vitor, Rubens, Massa and a bunch of F1 drivers in Florianopolis, Brazil. She's the only non F1 driver to ever win this race. Can you believe 20,000 fans ?! You can hear them start going crazy about the time she passes TK and the move she puts on Rubens is great....

Why don't you focus on how cool this is versus being a hater on another form of the same sport?

I think its super cool that brazil is interested in Indycar

TK and Helio both said in interviews during the Brazil weekend that she was really the media darling down there, signs everywhere supporting her, etc. I've never been there to see it in person, but if TK says it, I'm taking his word for it.

I wouldn't mind at all if TK won. But Rubens and Helio? No way. Let's just hope the fans show up this year and don't make the race look like it was run in a ghost town like they did last year. Ernest

The race was held on an early monday morning. You wont get packed stands on a early monday in the rain. I dont care where you're at. Ernest, IndyCar races outside the US have been well attended and received. No need attacking Sao Paulo becuase you want everything American, races/drivers. Just stop.

I hope it does not rain, or at least not hard enough to force postponement and a Monday event. It will be nice seeing a huge crowd for a race outside of Indy.

Well, don't see much of this, she won a kart race, cool, people talked about her for 15 min and then nothing else.
Or maybe (not kidding) I'm seeing much motorsports websites outside Brazil and I'm missing it.
