Really? Did this thread really need to get moved?
"Try some of these before or after your statements if you are not presenting them as facts. Things like - "In my opinion", or "I think that", JHMO, IMHO, IMO, JMO... Your opinions are not (necessarily) fact. That would clear things up some." - Seadog 03/25/2010 11:40am So the above is JMO.
See post #15. Run the Reynards, Lolas, Offy's or whatever. Just limit the power-to-weight ratio or top speed, so the old cars don't beat the DW12s. So you'll have to limit them to, uh, 350HP. With the Lotuses, you've got a bunch of moving chicanes out there anyway. What's the difference?
BTW, a lot of people would be really happy to see those old cars back.

No Sherlock he's using his brain and stating a very educated and common sense opinion...........you know the way normal people do.
If you really have to ask and make this thread Gonzo then you don't have very good business sense or a grasp of how corporations like Honda work.
There is absolutely zero chance of Honda rolling out the old engines for Indy this year. To even think otherwise is foolish because it's just not going to happen.......
and no I don't have a quote from a series or Honda official.......I'm just doing what most people do and that is to accept reality for what it is and understand how things work in the real world as opposed to fantasy land.
**** This Sport
It's not just about Honda. How would Chevy and lotus feel about dusting of the old Honda/dallaras? I'm sure the Indy 500 is the biggest reason Chevy and lotus joined the series. Would Honda allow Chevy and lotus to rebadge Hondas engines? even if they did, would it matter? We all know Hondas.
I love the sport more than I hate the past,
Because the track now owns the series and (so) now has various business partners that it must keep happy.
It used to be that the track wouldn't care if a CART/Indycar sanctioned car or an Indy specialist or a one off entry put together from volunteers out of a gas station entered the race just so as they stayed within the stated specs.
Now ... its gotta be a Honda, Chevy or Lotus. Only two of those actually have recently discontinued engine packages, and I highly doubt they want to divert from their current investment just to wax the nostalgia of a couple trackforum members.

You create asinine threads and take asinine stances just for the sake of being asinine to get a rise out of people. Seems like all too often you just wait to see whatever popular and common sense opinion is and then purposely pick the other side just for the sake of doing so..........sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't, and sometimes it just makes you look outright crazy.
Going against the grain may seem like the cool thing to do but it doesn't always work.
With all of that said sometime you also do your homework and one of your lengthy research-laden "asinine" posts actually turns out to be quite brilliant and right on the money (if even by design?) This thread isn't one of them by the way.......but if I know you, they'll be plenty more to give it another shot.
Swaze, give me a break......how the hell is this thread asinine? It's a question as to why couldn't, just why couldn't for the hunky dorey of it all whip out last years car if its so f'ing critical to the vast majority of people on these boards to have 33 plus drivers attempt to make the field. How is that asinine? Huh? How is that going against the grain? How is that picking the other side? How is that making me look crazzy?
You know if you had a hot clue whatsoever you would realize that Indy Car used to run old equipment all the time. It isn't an asinine idea at all to suggest they return to that tradition.
What is asinine is you having a problem with it.
Would it happen? Probably not. Could it happen? Anything can happen Swaze!!! I said I don't know how many weeks or months ago in one of the threads about Lotus that we don't know what the hell is in the contracts and that if the series was already short on Honda and Chevy engines they had better have a contingency plan in place if Lotus pulled the plug. I got told a contract is a contract and that we wouldn't see that happen. All I said was we weren't privy to what the clauses of the contract say and that as result, anything is possible and the series could be sitting on a house of cards. And low and behold, ya anything was possible cause Lotus just severed ties with two of their teams and now we are seeing Honda and Chevy try and fill those voids.
We don't know what the hell Honda thinks about using last years car and engine. None of us do. How the hell do you know they aren't tired of having their arse kicked the first three races and would rather flood the field with Honda powered cars from last year in conjunction with this years attack and really go after Chevy. What do they care if its last years engine or this years engine if all that matters is a big fat shiny Honda logo next to the Borg Warner. You actually think last years engine winning is going to sell any less cars for them than this years engine winning? Pft!!!
Is it far fetched? Sure, it's far fetched. But its a Godam !@#$% talking point. Are talking points not aloud in discussion forums Swaze.?
If we relied on you Swaze to provide all the talking points this forum would have died a miserable death for the lack of brilliant contributions you have made to starting threads and discussions. What have you done to start discussions? Nothing! Wow three threads since the start of this year. Bravo. You just complain to the guys that do.
Maybe you need to worry less about me looking crazy. You know, you like to criticize me, you think I'm asinine, or look crazy, you are the worst thing for a forum! You are a forum cancer. A poster who does nothing but try and discourage conversations. If the thread or idea is so stupid or CA-RAZZZZZZZZYYYYY guess what happens, nobody will post in it and it will die and fall off the board. Nobody needs Swaze policing members on whether the topic is suitable or not. What are you some kind of closet moderator. If you want to moderate so bad why don't you ask the powers that be if you can take on that role.
I'm sure glad the forum members know that Swaze is on the beat. Foolish me thinking all the hard work and effort to manage this place was being done by doitagain and T13 and Dog-Ring when all along it's been Swaze making this place better for everybody.
Good job Swaze! Good job. It's such a wonderful place you've created here.
In 1993, Chevy had three different engines running at Indy. The Chevy A, Chevy B and Chevy C! Running in a Penske PC-22, a Penske PC-21, a LolaT9300, a Lola T9200, a Lola T9100, a Galmer 92, and a Rahal-Hogan RH-01!
In 1990 Cosworth ran the DFS, the TC, DFX, in a Lola T9000, Lola T8900, Lola T8800, and a Penske PC-17.
Why is it so asinine to suggest that Honda run last years car and engine to compete against this years car and engine? Please explain. There is only one thing asinine about this thread and it isn't me!
If enough teams and drivers approached Honda about running last years car and engine, you don't think they would entertain the idea if a strong enough business case could be made?
I rest my case.
This post is exactly why you have your own sub-forum.
Decipher from that what you will, but when threads like this one always get moved to this sub-forum it should make you wonder why. I say it should but I know it doesn't.
By the way I'm not the one giving you your own sub-forum or moving so many of your created threads to it.
Wake up on the wrong side of the bed Swaze? Ithink its a really good thread with Indy coming up. But the question is why do you feel the need to trash a thread that you're not even commenting on? That to me fits your research ******** post model. Ernest
And for the record, Gonzo has started 24 threads this year to your 3. Its quite clear who contributes to Track Forum and who doesn't.
