It's a Hoosier thing, you wouldn't understand...
As they increase the banking with new smooth blacktop they have made the racing easy, simple, bulletproof. But they know better than everyone else.......they listen to the drivers, and the drivers want things easy. Now it might be more interesting to make racing hard, make it more like work, make it difficult, make is slippery......they have gone the opposite way and it's almost slot car racing anymore.
And throwing a yellow to bunch up the field is something they got called on over the last decade, no one wanted to see it.....well obviously almost no one.![]()

Led to believe that every race would have cars flipping and 9 cars coming off turn 4 on the last lap all racing for the win.
I blame Brian France for promising "more Game 7 moments"
Hes done more damage to racing in America than NIMBYs and the EPA

Funny how Dover had 500 mile marathons 20 years ago with green flag segments that lasted 100, 200 even 250 laps.
And they had to add more seats every Winter
Might as well have Bigfoot run over some junk cars for 2 hours then have a 20 lap feature race if thats their idea of a logical solution
It's not just racing....I do believe a contributing factor is the general shortening of the public's attention span. Instant gratification is the word.

Not me. Im tired of all the yellows now. I hate the "phantom" debris yellows they throw just to bunch em up again. I would rather see green flag racing. Yellow flag racing is boring.

Sounds like we're pretty much all in agreement. Problem is, there's less than 10 of us.

Big surprise, NASCAR fans want more yellows = more wrecks (well, at least IMHO). I'm sure if they are patient enough there will be a wreck fest some time in the near future. Personally, I enjoy professional drivers racing fast and not wrecking. That's more awe-inspiring and incredible then demolition derbies in my book....![]()
"I love Indianapolis. I love the people. I love everything about it....the tradition, the history." - Dan Wheldon
Well, they solved the problem in tonight's Nationwide race. Steve Wallace is back. Should be a few yellows.
Of course they do... because they know who gets the majority of the Lucky Dogs
"Ride The Barrel & Get Pitted... So Pitted."
It seems to me - maybe Daytona took up the "expected damage" budget for many right at the start of the year - maybe the driver have to drive like it comes out of their pocket now. It has been a "strange" year since then.
