The Bounty Trilogy was an early favorite of mine, I read them when I was about 12 years old. The authors, Charles Nordhoff and James Hall, were Americans who served in the Lafayette Escadrille during WWI flying French aircraft before the United State's entry into the war. They later moved to Tahiti to write.
