This begs an interesting question. What are ROP speeds going to be? Weren't laps of 215 required last year? Are rookies going to need to trim out to the max just to pass RO?

That's a good question. Based on tall the testing, you would think 205 would be the new requirement. They might have to drop it even further though depending on what the Lotus is capable of, which is all theoretical because of their lack of engines.

They can't be to picky this year if they want 33 to start the race. You will make the race as long as you keep it out of the wall for four laps.

Honestly, I think they should just run the same boost (the "road course" boost) at all tracks.

Andretti did 218 with a big tow, right?
So I think teams will find more speed, but the ROP will be with 200mph

I think this is the closest prediction yet, the DW12 doesn't seem quite as fast as last years car on the oval, we'll see

FWIW, I'll guess 224 and, since there are only 32 car / driver combos entered (at the moment), I'll go with 215. If we had 34-35 entries, then I'd say 219, but someone out there is going to figure it's better to save equipment and just throw any ole number up on the board and park it.

I'll be impressed @ 220mph. I mean...550 HP doing 220 mph laps at Indy is technological advancement in a way. The car isn't some horrible piece of junk IMO

I'm pretty surprised with the number of guesses of pole speed being less than what they have run so far in testing. Testing has been with a lot of wing and not pushing the engines due to the mileage rule.

    Pole - 226.3
    33rd - 216.2
    Slowest Attempt - 209.8

I'll take a flux capacitor please...go back to a pole day that didn't need gimmicks....

No, it wouldn't be allowed to race.

And actually if we only have 32 or even 33 cars, I'm guessing the 207 could be accurate. No need to lay it all on the line if you are guaranteed a starting spot.

Yeah because 30 y/o technology making the new car look bad wouldn't be a good thing.

This will not happen. There must be competition at Indianapolis.

    Fastest is 224.5
    Slowest going 213.3

I mean they've already done 218s with minimal testing.

218 was with a tow. At best, the cars were doing 214. Trim the wings and you might get 219. I think 221 will be very hard to achieve and that's my guess for pole.
