Driving to Indy from The South. Louisville or Cincinnati this year?

Ive gone both ways and know the travel time is pretty close both ways. But is there any construction this year that may make one way better or worse this time?

They're probably finished now but for a while the bridge from Indiana back to Louisville was closed on I-64. Might want to check that for the return trip.

I think work was scheduled on the I-65 bridge crossing the Ohio River in Louisville.

The I-65 bridge is having some patchwork done after the Derby this weekend, but it is only supposed to take a couple days. You might actually be able to ride the bridge without killing your shocks. The I-64 bridge repairs are done too.

I know there has been some fairly major work going on in the Louisville area. I went from Indy to Lexington and back a few times during basketball season, and on some occasions the ramp from I-64 West to I-65 North was closed. One of those times we exited I-64 west of I-65 and went north on 2nd St. to cross the Clark Memorial Bridge into Indiana. Be careful if you do that -- the guy driving for us got pulled over for doing 50 because the limit on the bridge is 35.

When I was doing the driving, I usually took I-74 to Cincinnati to avoid the mess in Louisville. I didn't encounter any problems going that way. The one time I went through Louisville down and back, I got in a major traffic jam both ways, and it wasn't rush hour. It may be better now, but you should definitely check on the construction first before going through Louisville.

The Sherman-Minton Bridge on I-64 over the Ohio River was closed for quite a while, but is now open. That shouldn't have affected you anyway if you're coming from the southeast, other than causing more traffic to end up on I-65.

    Gold star for Steve

We live in a small town called Irmo Wilf.

Just West of where I-26 & I-20 intersect

So far from what Ive read it sounds like the Cinci route is the way just to be rather than sorry

Do people from Cincinnati hate it when people say Cinci?

Ive heard locals never refer to San Francisco as Frisco

For up to date info the best source would be the states DOT

I'm not from Cincinnati but I do live up the road and it's always been referred to as Cincy. I've never heard any complaints.

We don't say Cinci. We just say we're going to town. I've heard it called alot of things, so Cinci is probably allright I think. I'm just happy to be 45 miles north of that mess.
