    NOLA Motorsport Park

This hasn't hit the radar here before much, but some investors have built a very nice club circuit not far from New Orleans. It's unlikely they'll ever be able to attract a NASCAR date, but they do have two 2.5 plus mile road courses with long straightaways, wide runoffs and VIR style condos. They've already made sizeable investments in infrastructure and allegedly the track is up to FIA standards so it wouldn't be a huge reach for them to upgrade for an Indycar event. It's still a good bit away from having the infrastructure and safety measures in place to host an Indycar race, but it's getting there. I have a friend who turned some laps there on a bike earlier this year and said they're on pace to rival Barber and VIR when it comes to driver amenities.

The track owners have said there is no plans to pursue a NASCAR date, but haven't ruled out an Indycar weekend. Zoom Motorsports, the promoters at Barber, are looking to expand, and NOLA and Birmingham aren't that far apart, but are entirely separate markets.

To me it looks like it could be a good win for the series. It's a market that NASCAR hasn't/can't reach. It's very close to downtown New Orleans, and it could provide a early spring/late winter date that Indycar needs.

Not much Nascar presence in that area of the country (a very warm area). I'd sure be looking at it.

Don't think they have the infrastructure to support an Indycar race. Its a club circuit. But then again, so was Barber IIRC.

I'll let you know, I'll be running there in June i think.

I grew up 10 miles from where this is. I'd love seeing Indycar trying to get into the New Orleans market.

AMA has a Superbike Race on the schedule in the Fall. I am thinking about going if I retire.

Please post something. I had a friend who lapped it on a bike. He said it's flat, and kinda reminded him of an infield road course, but said it was a fun drive, and it's a road course like Cleveland where you could probably see 60 to 100 percent of the track depending on where you were sitting.

Looks like a great facility and I do believe the owner is doing it up to FIA requirements. Guy isn't sparing any money on the place. It is flat (as is the rest of that area) but also keep in mind that only the North course is open right now. Personally I'd be more concerned about the necessary infrastructure (media, garages, grandstands/viewing areas/parking) necessary for a crowd that would allow a promoter to break even.

I loved those Mardi Gras grand prix street races... I remember going as a wee tot when I was 5.

I'm assuming using the South Course would be the best option?
    Interesting complex

A proper road course right next to a major city? Surely this can't be! I would still worry about the strength of the New Orleans market, but being located in a major population center is a plus. Louisiana is an... odd place, but I might make the trip if they decided to do this.

I say run the FULL course once it's completed. This could be a nice boost for the area if it happened....kinda like Homestead was after the hurricane there. I see atleast 4 passing zones on the full course.
