Who is it going to be? DRR? Ed Carpenter? RLLR?

Dumb statement. Haven't you been following along? The money isn't the issue.

I really feel for MSR Racing, but a classy move by Shank. Could have pulled a Forsythe but instead allowed his driver to seek other opportunities after his ran out. Props.

how is it not? Cavin is saying that he thinks they'll find an extra engine for Howard somewhere and those things cost money. Somebody is paying Honda and Chevy somewhere in this deal

Releases him from what? He never had an engine, so I really doubt that he and Howard had a done deal.

I think the point is that Shank did not want to run slow in a Lotus and if Howard gets a ride it probably will be in a Lotus powered car. I dont fault Shank for not wanting a Lotus just to have a car in the race.

Yep. Howard has a good sponsor, by all accounts.

Chevy said they needed to honor their agreements with existing teams. It could be Howard could go somewhere where the basic infrastructure is in place to spin up a 2nd car, especially if it's some manner of short-mileage lease or limited program.

Going to be interesting to watch.

Wouldn't be surprised to see Howard make a guest appearance in one of Shanks Rileys later in the season, or maybe even the Rolex next year.

Too bad for Shank, but they have no experience and no time to get it. They will be a lot better off having a year to line everything up and get themselves a competitivce motor, and maybe do a little testing. Maybe they can get AJ in the car next year for a race or two.

I really can't imagine Howard going anywhere but to Lotus. How can Chevy or Honda give out another engine now, with a straight face? Maybe Newman Haas?

Apparently he was talking to Dragon and another team.

If Shank finds himself a motor do we maybe see PT at Indy?

    Agreed I think it'll be Newman-Haas or a 3rd RLLR, but most likely Newman-Haas with a Lotus.

Releasing Howard from what? A team with no funding and an engine-less chassis?

And Howard would be a much better choice than Jean Alesi who likely wouldnt even make it to the race.

Didn't Newman-Haas back out of its Indy entry?

I've said this before, I know, but SOMEONE will snatch up that cash if there is no chance they'll be bumped, and take the payday from the race and Alesi's money.

I'm betting it's not a ton of cash, judging from the fact nobody has jumped on it yet, but it's something.

And, in other news that you shouldn't believe, I will be Alesi's teammate at Indy this year, & I'll be making my Indy debut, after returning from accepting my Academy Award and Nobel Prize.

I can't really imagine them signing Howard and his sponsor, accepting a Lotus then some official saying they can't run the 33rd car.

And they would be my bet because they would see the benefit of being in the Indy 500, even with a dog of a Lotus, because they value participating. They have been there for nearly 30 years, they certainly have had chances to win and some when they didn't have a realistic shot but they intend to come back full time.

RLLR is still trying to do a deal with the Italian kid, right? Maybe Howard can snag that seat.

This is hilarious, what would everyone think if Chevy steps up and give a 2nd engine to ECR with Howard? Would smell like back room stroking going on, don't forget TG is a part owner of Ed's team as well. Maybe a little Hulman influence is bigger than what Randy can try to do..........

    We will see.

Maybe Honda and Chevy don't want to deal with Shank because of the way he has done Lotus. Agrees to run an engine, never comes up with $ or a sponsor or a driver....maybe Honda and Chevy don't want to waste an engine on a team that isn't going to answer the bell
