That's one of them (of four).
It's a Hoosier thing, you wouldn't understand...
Wasn't that stolen back in the 90s?
If they got that much for just the still painting imagine what they could get for the whole movie![]()

Although it was painted at the end of the 19th century, The Scream has always seemed to be exquisitely modern.
Speaks immediately to the viewer and communicates intense emotion rather than subtlety.
Absolutely wonderful image but surely it can't be worth $120 million ; that sort of money should only be tossed around in a contract for a reasonably competent sports figure.![]()
Munch created four versions of the painting, two in 1893, one in 1895, and one in 1910, using different paint media ( crayon, pastel, and tempera ) on cardboard and board. The paintings cover the same basic image and are recognizable as versions of the same subject but there are color variations and changes in detail among the four.
The painting which just sold for the $120 million is the most colorful of the four and it is the only version which was in private hands, the others being in museums in Oslo.
An interesting point about the painting is that the man in the painting is not screaming, he is covering his ears to shut out the scream coming from the environment around him.
Very interesting! Thanks for the information mclarke !!

Thank you. So as not to mislead, I confess that the info is not based on any real familiarity with art on my part but rather that when the sale was made, I had to do a little background checking.
The same sort of research I would have done if I had personally put in a bid on the painting.![]()
