    I think this is wonderful. I pray for him and look forward to his return to Indy in 2013.

    Didn't they have him on a tape recorder once in the late 90s ? It's all good though. I hope the best for Gomer.

    Yep. When the start of the race was delayed until Monday.

    That was 1997. He was at the track Sunday, but had to fly home that night and couldn't stick around for Monday. They played a previous rendition (the '93)

    It's my understanding Nabors was also at the track on the original race day in 1986 as well. But when that got rained out and moved to Saturday, they had to get a replacement. John S. Davies from the Indianapolis Opera. Quite an interesting story for John's appearance...worth telling someday.
