    That would be so awesome.

    That is not happening.

Even if the Lotus engine weren't at a disadvantage (possible. But highly inprobable), you really think Simona, Legge, or Bourdais with Dragon's team (since the N/H staff left they haven't looked too hot) can win it? Not even with a Honda...

    I can picture it now.

A jolly old elf with a long white beard driving, while sitting in the lotus position.

Not sure what the bigger miracle would be. Lotus winning or Simona/Legge winning?

I really have my doubts about Legge ever starting The 500

Don't lump Simona in with Legge. That is being mean.

Much worse drivers than Kat have qualified at Indy. She'll be fine. These cars are (regrettably) foot to the floor and 4 turns left if you have enough wing dialed in.

This here "Racing God" that you're praying to must have some talent....because yeah....I'm pretty sure we'd have to have wings on the back of any driver that is in a Lotus that has any hope of winning the 500.

It would be cool to see though.

Edited to agree with the above sentiment that it would be extra cool if it was Simona. But yeah....still, not gonna happen.

That would be awesome for Bourdais to win it! I believe Kat will be fine. She'll start last no doubt but she's gonna qualify.

It would be ironic, but unless 30 other cars drop out...

Given the 100hp limit difference between Indy and RC/SC engine configs, we still don't know if the Lotus will actually be down on power at Indy. So yes, it could happen. Likely? No, because as other posters have stated, the Lotus teams probably wouldn't be competitive anyway. But Dragon was very fast at Indy in 2010. You never know.

This is an excellent point and right now the greatest unknown, I would love for the Lotus-powered teams to at least be competitive at Indy.

The greatest disadvantage at IMS won't be lack of horsepower. All the numbers will be evened out beforehand by boost, ecr, etc. The real story will be the lack of testing and development. Unless they get incredibly lucky right off the hauler, or are the best setup-development people on earth, it'll be a long half month of May for them. How many laps does a Lotus/Judd-DW12 have on ovals ? Going to IMS without even an honest road course first, let alone an oval, is a mistake.

Heck; at this point, I'll settle for a Lotus in the top 1/2 of the finishing order. That will already be an Old Testament style miracle right there!

We should make bets right now, since it'll never happen: What would you all do if Lotus DID win?

Katherine will make the field. Of course, I think just making the 500 after last year would be a big accomplishment for Dragon.

I am thinking she'll be the last to get through rookie orientation next week.

Who saw Panther Racing or Herta's team with a chance of winning the 500 last year on the 3rd of May?

I certainly would like to see Lotus make improvements and become a factor if not in time for Indy then by mid-season.
