If Lotus Wong, that would be the story of the year!
If Lotus Wong, that would be the story of the year!
Glaucoma -deal with it!!
Let's see ...
Plenty of American jobs associated with Chevy
Honda's the company that's single-handedly supported Indycar the last ?? years. (Plus lots of American jobs assembling them in USA)
So, you're rooting for a Malaysian company with next to zero USA presence or contribution to USA economy (or Indycar)?
Racing Heroes - Swede Savage, Mark Donohue, Teo Fabi, Dan Wheldon, Jeep Van Wormer, Don O'Neal,
When's the last time you had the crowd up on their feet?
The Indianapolis 500. Where Milk doesn't just taste like Milk. It tastes like Immortality.
It would be awesome - and too funny too...
I'd say it is a long shot - but Bourdais has the skill and Simona MIGHT.... Simona winning would be HUGE for so many reasons (Lotus, being female AND how terrible last May was for her).... but I think it is more likely I'll win powerball (and I rarely by tickets so...).....
If Lotus win the 500 it would be one of the biggest DISGRACES to ever hit the sport!!!
They got into the sport in a half-ass way at the Los Angeles auto show & have acted like drunk college kids looking for loose change to buy more frat party beer. Instead of beer Lotus has attempted to fund an engine program on the cheap & its been painfully obvious
Chevy & Honda sell as many cars in an hour than Lotus sells worldwide all year. They have stepped up & delivered proper turbo V6 Indycar motors. If they lose to a Lotus then something has gone horribly wrong.
No proper "Racing Gods" would ever allow someone as bush league as Lotus to win the 2012 Indy 500!!!This is not your father's Lotus... Colin Chapman, Jim Clark, & Graham Hill are violently rolling over in their graves at this underfunded effort.
Do you NEED a car this fast...? NO, but do you WANT a car this fast?? YES!!! -Tom Hnatiw
Race CARS Not DOGS!!! Adopt or foster a retired greyhound -Me
Win? The racing gods will need to intervene just for a Lotus car to see 20 laps. It would not surprise me to see no scheduled pit-stops for a Lotus powered car.
Indy, Cleveland, Mid-Ohio, Pocono, Michigan, Long Beach, Watkins Glen, Kentucky, IRP - 49
Those groups BOTH had Honda motors & good teams or partnerships that the Lotus runners do not have.
Johnny Herbert "pissed his pants" because he chose to debut with an underfunded (despite the logos plastered on the car) & under engineered team. The same Johnny Herbert that drove 10/10th in F1/LeMans after savagely breaking his legs in F3000. Also are you seriously comparing Herbert's resume to Katherine freakin' Legge??? That disqualifies your comment right there!!!You never know until they hit turn 1 at full speed. Also, remember johnny herbert. His pizzed his pants too.
However, I think we agree that there is no guarantee that the 32-33 cars entered @Indy actually race @Indy. Every year we have cars/teams eliminated in practice or qualifying accidents.
My words may not be what you want to hear.....but what you need to hear. TF CHALLENGE: CONVINCE 1 NEW PERSON TO WATCH INDY NEXT SUNDAY
it's gonna be a "GREAT" story if Lotus wins, keep the crows and bleach coming.
people love underdogs, it was such a big deal when Trevor Bayne won the other 500.
Bourdais in the Winners Circle. Cannot really think of any driver I would rather see there more than him this year. Except maybe Simona. Ed would also be cool. Newgarden would also be cool. Heck, I want them all to win.
Maybe they should let Lotus enter this, http://www.lotuscars.com/gb/racing/type-125.
High downforce, V8 Cosworth rated at 640hp, functioning stall prevention and self starting... And only $1,000,000.
Not sure how many they have sold, but this has to be a bigger loss leader than the entire IndyCar engine program. That said, it proves lotus can still design and build a modern race car with internal resources for aero, structure, etc.... And doesn't that Cosy sound nice.
Congratulations to RHR, & all the winning drivers & teams in the fantastic 2012 season. Looking forward to 2013!
We are all together now. Goal 22-24 races per year split 50:50 oval:RC/SC
