Counting the days down for the big race. Looking forward to time trials in two weeks. Like the Pope of Long Beach said, "Can I get an Amen?"

We truly are. There isn't another annual event that I think of/plan for EVERY SINGLE DAY OF THE YEAR. I've been spoonfeeding myself vintage radio broadcasts since March. I was ready to pack the van the moment the blue envelope arrived last month.

With the new car, why would they not open practice today? We should have threads talking about fastest laps, not retiring drivers numbers.

Well the mini is today, but I agree with you. I think we should have Rookie orientation on Monday and Tuesday and have practice start on Wednesday, but still call Saturday opening weekend/day or something like that. I don't think 1 week is enough especially if we're having new aerokits every year. One week......

I totally agree that there should have been more practice days or an open test early on.
If a couple days are lost to weather this could really hamper teams preparation.
These are new cars and teams will be running on their first oval this season, for heaven's sake!

There is an open test on the 7th...not at Indy, but still relevant.
I am a fan of the IZOD IndyCar Series, Formula 1, and AMA Supercross in that respective order.

I realize there's a Texas test but it won't help with the setup for Indianapolis. The teams need to put that new car on the IMS track to see what it'll do in different situations.

I don't disagree with you, it would have been cheaper just to test at IMS, but you know the series did what it did so...It will at least give a good idea of speeds.
