    Jean Alesi 186.387mph. That's it??

Been watching rookie orientation. Website says it's complete. My guess is Jean didn't make it?? 186mph? That's the best he can do? There's GOT to be a story behind this.. No way he can only muster a 186..

This was their first chance at shaking down the car, and the time the team has had on track, period. So really, it seems like today was more a shakedown/installation day. We'll see how they look on Sunday and through the first of the week when they continue the ROP.

How did you come to the conclusion that it's the best he can do.

Today was not a time trial.

You do realize he is driving for a team that has never ran a DW12? You also realize they are using a Lotus engine who have had NO Indianapolis track time? You also realize this is the first time he has been in an open wheel car since 2001?

SAVATS, I thought you were smarter than that.

Not to mention that the test doesn't work that way, you can't just crank out 215 on your first lap anyway.

I was starting to worry that I was the only one the thought he looked like Stallone, either that or Rick Pitino.

Alesi ran 18 laps the next lowest was Bryan Clauson and he ran 50+. That'll tell you something right there. Plus Alesi has no oval experience, in his 50's, and on a new team - baby steps before long leaps.

48, IIRC. That's okay, Arie thinks he's 57, or something like that.

I don't know squat about rookie orientation. Never cared much about it. Shoot me. I suck. I'm an idiot. I'm an ignorant fool. I'm not a true Indianapolis 500 fan. I'm a phony. A fake. A moron. A piece of garbage. Maybe I'll just go jump off a bridge.

Some of you? Who are you talking about? I only see one poster (the OP) questioning Alesi.

His last name translates to "After You"
The reality is the numbers are dropping yet you call the deal 'ahead of its time'. The only end result that can be drerived from that is the series will be broke 'ahead of its time'.

That hat - believe it or not is a coppola and derives from Sicily.

Many of you may think it's American but it's really not.

Jean is half Sicilian and half French.

That's appropriate, because with the Lotus engine, a team that has never worked with a DW12 and a driver who hasn't race in OW in 11 years, he'll be saying "After You" a lot on race day to the rest of the field as they blow past him multiple times during the 500.
