I disagree. Except for Hamilton being forced to start last, nothing else unusual determined the result. He went out and won.It took the "Perfect Storm" but a great drive for Maldonado and a great win for Williams
Yeah, this is crazy. I would never in a million years have tipped Maldonado and Williams to get a podium this season, let alone a win. It would have been interesting to see how Hamilton competed starting from pole - I feel that it might have been a different story then, but apart from Alonso (and the late race Raikkonen charge), no one could compete with Pastor. A great job.
Short lived celebrations at Williams guys as fire broke out in their garage during the after race party. Its believed to have been a kers explosion on Sennas car. Some folk being treated for injuries, mainly smoke inhalation. A massive plume of smoke, many mechanics from a few teams helped tackle blaze. Medical helicopter just arrived at medical centre. Wishing all are ok.
A great season so far indeed. I never imagined Alonso competing for race wins after Australia, so that is a nice surprise for me.
Happy for Sir Frank, I hope he smiled today.

I was watching the Sky F1 channel as they were still broadcasting from pit lane when the fire happened so their cameras were pretty much right on scene. Looked pretty scary, the entire left side of the garage appeared to momentarily erupt in an orange glow of flame then a dense mass of thick smoke. This was not a small incident by any shakes & at the very least there is major damage to Senna's car. What a downer to such a happy weekend for Williams.

Is that what has really been said about him, or is it overblown? Honest question. I have heard it mentioned that Pastor brought bucks to the team, but I can't recall hearing anything that nasty.Maldonado!

He was seen as the Viso of F1 - kinda. Fast driver on one lap, brings big bucks, but keeps being involved in silly incidents.
Surely that win will change his reputation massively, though.

Yup, he's a worthless paydriver who only won GP2 because he had been there in 100 seasons and there was no competition that year.
That's basically the sum of most posts about Maldonado the last couple of years. (and before that it was about his "lifetime" ban at Monaco)
Most of those posts probably made from people who never actually seen him race that much.
It wasn't five different winners in a row if I recall correctly, but I like this tweet:

There never was one. It was just one of those internet rumours repeated enough times.
Another great race. Last year was only great if you were a Red Bull & Vettel fan. It was great to see a legendary season, but as Schumacher demonstrated, a few of those in a row starts to get boring. At this point, there really is no predicting who will end up champ. It does seem that Vettel & Red bull are strong, but if Lotus or McLaren could get their act together and have a number of perfect races they could pull out a lead. I think they are faster than the Red Bull, but have had more problems.
Racing: there is no substitute.
OK. Like I said, it was an honest question, as I don't follow the series much more than just watching the races on Sunday (that's why I lean on you guys).
I guess Pastor proved them wrong, for one race at least.

This season is looking a lot like 1982 when there were several different race winners and teams. So unpredictable that the lot of us are going to have a difficult time from now on out to make the correct picks on Mick's splendid F1 game.
Seeing Pastor win was incredible and he drove the race of his life. I didn't think he would win this year, but thought for sure he would have a podium or two especially after he threw away a great finish in Australia. And to think, he only qualified 21st at Bahrain. This is so far a great season with now Alonso tied for first place with Vettel. I only with Vettel wouldn't have passed Rosberg, Hammy and Button towards the end. I think he's realizing that this year to win out, you may need to finish high and not necessarily go for the win.

There's another neat thing about this season. We've had 5 different constructors winning but it doesn't look all that unlikely that we could have Lotus up there too. Wouldn't that be something?
Basically, Pastor ran over a marshall at Monaco in World Series by Renault in 2005(?), under local yellow flags, and got a few races ban for that. The marshall got pretty bad back injuries as a result.
There were rumours saying he would be banned for life at Monaco afterwards, but apparently they were completely made up.
Maybe Sauber could pull something out of the hat too, who knows? After all they went pretty close to their maiden win at Sepang.

There's been two other times that five different drivers won races, but not five different constructors. That happened in 1967 and 1975. Now in 1982, there were five different winners and five different constructors winning the LAST five races.

Michele Alboreto - Tyrrell
Yeah, I think he got a four meeting race ban for it and Matteo Meneghello got banned too for the same incident (for not slowing down properly, I don't think Meneghello hit the marshall).
Maldonado came back in style in 2006 and totally dominated the World Series by Renault event in Monaco. He then won the Monaco GP2 race in dominant fashion too the next year.
