NUVO's viewpoint of the Indy 500

I can't believe this article. GF used to work at this rag. The guy is so far beyond touch it's unbelievable. I almost didn't bring notice to it since it's quite clear the purpose was to violate peoples senses for "attention." Well, I am so as to allow people to send their opinion to these folks that need a wake up call.

I could explain all the violations of sensibilities but I'll leave that up to you. Since I can refute all of his negative claims. However, the vile way in which he refers to the fallen 500 champion, Dan Wheldon, is beyond.

This "journalist", part time writer for a free rag, does this with every psotive event that comes to Indy. Even the Superbowl which was clearly a huge bonus and great for Indy.

Sorry, it just pisses me off.

Probably not much reason to even acknowledge a moron of this magnitude. He's just looking for attention in hopes of one day having a real job.

Paragraphs 1-7 and 9 are actually pretty accurate. I understand the frustration that comes with reading other sections of it.

He's an arrogant hack who truly believes his own drivel. The only reason he has readers is because his rag is free. I can't believe that NUVO actually gets credentialed for the 500. The writer they have (and I won't name her name out of courtesy only) for years tried getting a PR job in CART, but was denied because she didn't have the proper creds.

Hammer's a slob and I say that in all sincerity as he is. If you work downtown, you'll run into him and you'll believe me. Trust me on this.

Someone at Nuvo talking about irrelevance. Now THAT is funny.

Sounds like she might fit right in at another organization we know Kurt.

Trock12, Come on. Seriously, WNBA? They have more interested fans than fans of the Indy 500? It's all complete trash.

Of course, I really didn't expect much less than agreement from some posters to a Fan forum for Indy Car to a complete hack job on the race, speedway, residents, dead drivers etc . Just proves even more that this site is quite unbearable sometimes.

And awesome he recieved his attention. And if the attention he recieves is nothing but complete contempt for him even better. After all, isn't complete contempt what most editors hope their writers recieve?

They have copies of NUVO sitting on the cabinet just inside the front door of the Brickyard Crossing front doors where they come in handy when someone forgets to restork the TP in the restrooms just around the corner.

    LMAO....

Yeah, if I ran into this mouth-breather on the street, I'm sure I'd take him seriously.

The paper or website that publishes this moron could do worse things to increase his credibility than remove his photo from his articles.

It reminds me of Robin Miller's profanity-laced split tirade a few years ago, only without the coarse language. It is just as vulgar and unoriginal in its own way. Non-thinkers like Hammer, that clueless guy from Chicago, or anyone who writes anything about 'the split' in 2012 is so far out of touch with reality that it is comical. We all have our nostalgic period...mine is the mid-1960s through the early 1970s...but you hardly ever see/hear me holding that up as the gold standard.

Why? Because I am interested in what will happen THIS year. I enjoyed what I saw with my own eyes from 1959 through the last race this year almost every time. But the 2012 Indianapolis 500 is Sunday. No one, except a small group of people acting with the mental and emotional agility of stranded soldiers on desert islands years after a war but still fighting it in their deluded minds anyway, cares about 1995 or what these flat-earthers believe they saw in what was an entirely different world.

Typed stupidity from bulbous digits of someone like Hammer serves no purpose. None. Is it not high time for such clingers to grow up?

By the way, how close was that column to one of those have-sex-with-a-tranny ads for which the free Nuvo is so well known?

    Comeback trail?

I enjoy optimism too... but the Centennial Era had the three lowest rated Indy 500s of all time.

    "comeback trail"???

    Based on what?

I don't like the article, but I can't say it's all wrong. In fact, it is exactly what I am worried about. From a racing perspective, 7 of the last 8 500's have been pretty great, but the viewership nationally has not gone up during that time, and, perhaps even worse, the local support by businesses for the race seems to have waned during the past decade. Even in the early days of the IRL you could go downtown Indy during May and see checkered flags everywhere. Drive through downtown today, and you will see bleachers for the parade, but other than that you might not even know the race is approaching.
Comparing that to the Superbowl, the fanfare was immense. So in closing, I didn't like the article and I don't like Hammer's articles in general, but I can't say it isn't without merit. The identity crisis facing Indycar is big. They have built up the recognition with new drivers only to lose many of the most recognizable. As long as Indycar cannot pay their biggest stars to stay in the league, it is hard to argue that the 500 will suffer, as will the perception of the series and it's chance at revival.

He always was. Usually spot on in his assesments. And I do not remember Robin ever posting porn on a board like Defender has more than once.
