Question Vuky's #14 Roadster - Never to be started again.

This question was posed in Miller's Mailbag....does anyone know why the engine was disabled/will never be started again?

Q: Every year we see a IMS museum car on the track. I can never recall seeing the front wheel-drive-Novi or Vuky's #14 winning roadster. I've heard a rumor that there is some kind of secret agreement that the engine in Vuky's is never to be fired? It would be nice to see Bobby Unser circle the track in the Novi as one of the last living drivers to have driven the Novi in the race. Bill Jr. circling the track in his Dad's roadster in 2013 on the 60th anniversary of Vuky's first win at Indy would be a big treat for the fans!

RM: Yes, that engine can never be started again (I believe the camshaft was removed) but it would be cool to see Vuky in his dad’s car. I think a couple Novis are still operating so Uncle Bobby would be perfect.

It's not a "secret" agreement at all. The deed of exchange from Howard Keck says that nobody else can drive the car, and the car was delivered with the camshaft removed.

    Now, that is cool.

    And so enjoyably old-school.

Quite true-THE DONALD has covered this more than once......

In fact I'm not so sure there isn't a similar provision in Keck's will.................
