Responding to those still full of hate is really just a waste of time.

I(and IowaBoyInIndy) saw him on the morning of the 500. We were in line at the Clabber Girl stand to get some biscuits and gravy when he walked up and got in line behind us. We couldn't believe that a man with all that wealth and power(even if diminished) would wait in line like a ordinary Joe.
As a footnote, just prior to that, we had bumped into Tim Cindric as he was headed for the Penske hospitality tent...nice guy.

You should have stopped and talked to him. He has some awesome stories. I've ran into him countless times at IMS and Nashville and everytime we talked was pretty cool. One of the best times I've had at a race track was when I got caught in a rain shower and stuck with TG and John Menard under a overhang. We talked for about 30 minutes or so. They did most of the talking I just listened.

It was weird, almost like an outcast sitting there by himself...
He watched the race in the Fuzzy's pagoda outside turn 4...he was very into the race and you could actually see him cheering for Ed.

Robin Miller didn't split a series and is a good guy in the know he always gives us inside knowledge and the low down. tells how it is. Therefore he has done more good for the sport than some guy that split the series than got voted out and left RB with the situation we're in today to try and rebuild indycars and get it back to how it should be.

And so we came to Road America where we burned up at the lake, but at the speedway of Nazareth I made no mistake

I thought I saw him at Indy selling Danica T shirts
All roads lead to Indy except for State Road 39 which goes to Martinsville.

According to the movie Back To The Future, weren't we supposed to be able to control the weather by now?

No, acting silly is actually believing that a reporter can do more harm to a sport than the people in charge of it. That's silly.

Just can't move on, can you?

TF threads often remind me of a circus parade that really entertains the kids, but requires some poor sap to follow along with a broom and a scoop.

I have done thanks maybe you need to as well? simply sticking up for Robin Miller after he was brought up and hate being directed at him for not doing enough for the sport. This thread isn't even about him.

    Wow. This thread is amazing.

I'm just curious, but would all the people with the TG hate have the same bad things to say to Andrew Craig, or Bobby Rahal, or any of the other CART leaders that ran that series into the ground?

I have always respected Tony at least with Tony you could ask a question get a answer and know it was what he thought, if he said he would do something he did, he also would say no and explain why something couldnt be done. Tony also did a lot for the fan club and valued the volunteers and their opinions. If I had a fan club issue I could go to him and it was resolved.

I also wonder if Robin Miller had embraced the IRL instead of putting it down, if fans would have thought different about the IRL Robin is so influential with many fans, it boggs my mind. I can't stand Robin Miller for how he took money from CART to Down the IRL that isn't passion for racing that is greed.

As far as Tony sitting by himself my gosh hasnt anybody gone out of a meeting etc.. to talk on a phone relax, think, I have.
I don't think anything Robin could say would have changed the fact that Unser, Jr, Mike Andretti, PT, and the other top drivers in AOWR weren't at Indy anymore, and instead the field was being paced by has beens and never weres. To be honest, if TG had ensured that all or most of the top drivers were in his series--at least enough to make things legit--I'd have followed the IRL. I didn't care who ran the show, as long as the best were there. *Sigh*

This is a great post. I really try and avoid these trollish split topics. However, I can not sit by with more TG bashing.

People here lack some of the most common manners. The guy ran the most prestigious track in the world and a top racing series. That must be easy.

So many people here think dealing with an essential take over of their family business by people with next to no skin in the game should have been a no brainer. Where are all those owners now that were so convinced they knew best?

Tg has done great things with IMS and the series. First, say you want but he re united it and things are getting better every year.

And to preface his next accomplishments IMS has never been solely an Indy car race. At one point the race even counted for the world drving championship.

He brought NASCAR( not a taxi cab fan), but the simpleton here can't see that "our" track has become the second most important race for them, if not first for many drivers.

Brought F1 here, btw the most track attended race of the entire world championship race schedule. And smartly told Bernie to fly off with his un realistic demands.

Maybe you have stopped and talked. You might have realized he tries very hard for the thing we all love.

The next time I see him(never spoke to the fellow) here's what I'll say.

Supertuner: Hi Mr. George I'm Supertuner. I want to personally thank you for everything you and your family have done for IMS and Indy car. I appreciate it very much.

    Mr George: Thank You.

SUpertuner: Good luck today. (I walk away)

Have somewhat of a feeling this is aimed at me. So I'll chuck a dime in on this one. With the events from 1996 onwards I was generally angry with the sport, TG, Andrew Craig and his predecessors FWIW I didn't like the way CART was going irrelevant, f1-lite and both parties not merging.

And to add a side note, quite amazing to one's self to see all the anger within this thread. I don't even have any genuine hate for TG, no praise, no hate, nothing. Nothing to bash about him just state maybe what's happened when had stuff chucked up at me. Only replied to hate being brought up on Robin Miller and at me. Quite astonishing.
