    F1 vs. IICS

Silverstone F1 - All top 6 finishers started in the top 6.

Toronto IICS - 5 of the top 6 finishers started OUTSIDE the top 6.

I think that says something. What do you think?

F1 cars are much more interesting to watch and despite this having been a good year for ICS in terms of on track racing, F1 has been a barn burner!
The reality is the numbers are dropping yet you call the deal 'ahead of its time'. The only end result that can be drerived from that is the series will be broke 'ahead of its time'.

Probably says more about when the pits are open during cautions.

At the risk of getting the eye roll,

Never mind the fact that the first seven races produced seven different winners and now the ICS has one that's produced three-straight. This thread is much ado about nothing.

Eh, that's sort of inherent when you have a bunch of different and unequal chassis. It's the catch-22 of spec racing. Sure, its visually somewhat boring, but a lot of times in F1 the race is won before the cars come off the trailers. I love both but they're just wildly different. I was going to make a joke about more wankers in Indycar, but then I remembered that Pastor Maldonado existed and decided against it.

Well, Formula One has drivers with personalities and cars that aren't ugly and all the same and they for sure race on much more beautiful race tracks. The Mercedes SLS is a way cooler pace car than some little Honda, too. Even cooler than the Corvette at Indy. This year there are 6 world champions in every race--that's individuals rather than just championships won. Maldonado may indeed be a "wanker" but he's also won a race ... something not likely ever to be said regarding Viso or Saavedra or Simona or Legge or ... . Formula One is missing really only ovals.

Sure Lewis and Webber are great, but I find Alonso, Button, Schumacher, Rosberg, and Vettel about as exciting as people as Scott Dixon taking a nap.

Daytona - 2 of the top 6 finishers started in the top 6.
    or put another way
Daytona - 4 of the top 6 finishers started OUTSIDE the top6.

Sorry, It only says you have a sample size of ONE, which is statistically rather meaningless for anything other than saying the races were different.
    new sig pending

LOL! I agree. The top six or seven at Toronto were just unlucky. Had nothing to do with the back markers over taking them on the track. Ernest

I think you do know why. Because I'm an IICS fan.

It is a discussion point. The records will show that the same six cars all started in the top six spots and finished the race in the top six spots. No matter what your take is on that or what mine is, that is what the record books will show.

Then maybe F1 should change their rules so they don't have that issue any more.

Stupid thread.........all the more stupid as F1 is having one of the all-time great seasons, so the whole point of the thread is a weak attempt at a troll, but without the ammo. to back it up.
    ...the spice must flow.....

Yeah I am confused - is that it - just a pointless thread so that seadog can tell everyone how much he loves ICS?

I wouldn't lose any sleep over it. If the poster knew anything about this F1 season he would know there is more parity than in IndyCar this year. In F1 you can't predict who will win unlike Indycar, where it's a red car of sorts or as of late, a yellow/white Andretti one that will win.

Historically, I haven't agreed with Richard much, but he is a million percent right here.

"It takes a special level of incompetance to make a schedule this terrible. America is possibly the greatest country in the world overall for tracks. To make a bad schedule in America takes effort. A special kind of effort. A kind of effort that only IndyCar could come up with."

The sad thing is F1 used to be full of colorful characters. Jackie Stewart was always a marvelous interview as was drivers like Mario, Graham Hill, Emmo and Ronnie Peterson. But the best was the immortal James Hunt.

    Think about that point carefully.

You probably wouldn't find the post match interviews from Spanish or German soccer very interesting either. I can assure you they do in Spain and Germany though.

F1 has had good racing this year, but politics always kill it for me. Which is funny, considering what goes on behind IICS doors. *Shrugs.*

Every year I try to be a F1 fan, and I lose interest before halfway.
