    Why Edmonton

Nice post by TC on the history of Edmonton racing, and what it means to that city:

I think those were the comments from many race fans throughout North America when big time auto racing came to Edmonton in 2005. Upon the ending of the successful run of Molson Indy Vancouver, a group of local businessmen and race fans decided to see if they could move the race to Edmonton. They were successful, and the race in 2005 had a three-day attendance of around 200,000, making it one of the best attended street races in history.

Great stuff TC. We were I at that race weekend in 2005. It rained on the Friday and there was over 50K in attendance. Sunday race day was unbelievable with an estimated 100K plus. Paul Newman made the comment after the race that it was the biggest race day crowd he had ever seen at a CART street course.

Very nice. Hopefully the crowds return this year, they've not been superb the last couple years, and now there's no Paul Tracy there.
    Wanker!
