I haven't really read this thread, but, IMO, we need to go back to Vegas for next year for Dan, publicity reasons, among other reasons. Heres what I think should happen:

-Randy needs to immediately announce that Vegas will return for 2013 as the season finale and an open test will be held sometime between Mid-Ohio and Sonoma.
-Open test should be open to the fans. Make it 2 days so adjustments can be made if the drivers aren't pleased with the car (downforce, speed).
-Make sure all drivers feel the track is raceable without pack racing.
-Have press release stating that drivers okay Vegas.
-Promote the hell outta the thing (more than last year) and maybe even give out free tickets again. (The media attention gained from a return will spur interest)
-During the race weekend: There should be some small tributes to Dan like painting "Lionheart" on the walls or have a small-ish Lionheart logo in the infield grass.

Randy is already being accused of flip-flopping. What if he announces the race and then the tests look very bad? Just do the testing first, before the race is announced. That gives Randy the option of not announcing the race.

Maybe another big reason for not going back to LV is that Randy figures he can't make money on it. Just guessing here.
