Anyone Know Why ABC Commentators Were At CN Tower and Not Trackside?

If you watched ABC or TSN2 last week for Toronto you probably noted that Scott Goodyear and Marty Reid were doing commentary from the CN Tower and not track-side. I had to laugh at them saying that it overlooked the track. Uh, you can see a lot from the top including Niagara Falls or so I was always told but Exhibition Place isn't located beneath or within immediate distance from the tower as they made it sound. When the International Media Centre which I've been in circa 2005 is located right at pit-out occupying at least 2 floors of the Allstream Center and has all the latest technology and things journalists need it makes you wonder why they weren't on site. Anybody know the reason why? It's something that I'm curious about as the CN Tower is far removed from Exhibition Place.

It doesn't matter, they just look at the monitor anyways. So they thought "Why not broadcast from the CN Tower? That'll wow the viewers!"

No wonder Marty couldn't tell the cars apart.
    Wanker!

They might have pre-recorded them up there and trackside during the race. Either way, they both suck at their jobs...

They shot the OPENING segment there, through the magic of what used to be videotape.

It works for Varsha, Hobbs, and Matchett to be locked away in a room looking at monitors, maybe they thought it would help their broadcast.

Sadly, ABC's camera crew and director they suck, unlike FOM and their really, really good F1 race coverages.

Maybe ABC the should be locked in a room with Varsha, Hobbs, and Matchett until they learn to do it.

I think ABC was too cheap to buy those guys tickets to the race.

At track, or in studio, it has to be the same thing. The announcers have to describe what is being broadcast. If not, the announcers would be taking about a great pass on the track, when the camera might be on an exceptionally slow pit stop by a leading driver.

ABC tried to do something nice, honestly they've been doing a great job with the openings...

of course that means nothing here.

In the past they said they were up in BMO Field's pressbox, and they were actually in Indy, I don't believe they even came up to Toronto. Green Screen works well.
