    Thumbs up Ryan Blaney

Ryan Blaney has been signed to pilot Penske Racing's No. 22 Nationwide Series Dodge in selected races the balance of the season.

Blaney effectively replaces Parker Kligerman, who was originally set to augment Brad Keselowski's schedule in the ride.

Blaney, the 18-year-old son of current Sprint Cup Series driver Dave Blaney, will make his Penske Racing debut in the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge Challenger in the Nationwide Series race at Iowa Speedway on Saturday, August 4th. Blaney will also drive for the team in at least two other races this season. He will race the No. 22 Snap-on Dodge at Richmond International Raceway and he'll drive the No. 22 Discount Tire Dodge at Kentucky Speedway.

“Ryan is a driver with a great racing pedigree and we believe he has a very bright future in NASCAR,” said Tim Cindric , President of Penske Racing. “We've been keeping an eye on Ryan's development and we feel he'll be a great addition to the No. 22 Nationwide Series team.”

I'm so excited for Ryan. Glad he's getting a shot with a big team. I'm a super "Blaney-ac" (not sure exactly how to spell it) so I'm thrilled with the news.

    Tough break for Parker Kligerman.

Blaney seems good. Good luck to him.

My only gripe about this is why couldn't it just be Parker and Ryan splitting the ride. What does Brad need to prove in Nationwide? I guess he just needs to inflate his ego doing the same thing he used to complain about when he was a Nationwide-only driver. Hypocrite.

Well, that's Brad Blue Deuce for ya.

I'm glad for Blaney because he's a real talent, it seems. I'll be hoping for Kligerman to run well this Sunday in Chicago.

    Mr. Penske makes those decisions.

Very often sponsors have a lot of say who is in a car, at least for some races. One of the arguments about limiting Sprint Cup drivers in Nationwide was that some sponsors wanted "name" drivers in the cars.
