More like a whiney, necessary annoyance.

    than they are actual customers.
    or something.
    That must be it.

    ...
    Are they?

I'm sure there isn't a single poster at this forum that's 100% tickled pink with how things are with the series and wouldn't mind changes; changes that could even be described as selfish..

    but

when a certain segment of so-called fans whines and complains over and over about multiple things, things like:

The drivers suck, there aren't enough Americans
There aren't enough Short track drivers
There's too many road and street courses
    The cars suck
    The owners suck worse
    Randy needs to be fired

    you get the picture.

Why would anyone put themselves through watching or attending a single ICS race that has that many dislikes about the series? Wouldn't you find a series or some other sport that didn't upset you so much and watch that? It's like they go to a restaurant where they don't like the food, the ambience sucks, the waiters are horrible, the parking is terrible and sit and eat complaining the whole time. If I owned the restaurant I could care less if they ever came back. I'd assume they were psychotic.

Gawd, TNN used to broadcast our Saturday night Late Model shows...live. We were always bumping into the talent in the halls. Mike Joy used to take forever in the washroom, doing his hair and makeup. Buddy Baker knew everybody by their first names. Heady days, those.

Rick B is as good as they get, and he is very under-utilized. I think the last show he did with us was an All-American back in 05 or 06. He and Mark Garrow were both there and seemed pleased (and surprised!) to be recognized.

And I still live on one. Who's old and bitter, then?

You know in this world of Instant gratification and short attention spans, the Wide World of Sports might be what Indy Car needs. Have the Start of the race live and the first ten laps or so, then go off to another couple of sporting events that has some unique value and fan interest for 20 minutes each, Meanwhile the tape delay techs are working toweave together a coherrent 15 to 30 minute package of race highlights to use before covering the last 10 laps live....

Now Back to Al Trautwig and the World Curling Championships in Montreal....

Speaking for myself only, I can't really get into highlights. I need to feel the flow of the entire race.

How about shortening the races a little bit, but having one on Saturday and one on Sunday? Or Friday night/Saturday night?

The Aussie V8s get great crowds twice a weekend doing this.

The series needs to increase revenue without adding expense, right? Double dipping, especially at street courses where $2-4 million is spent on all the concrete barrier infrastructure, makes a lot of sense to me. Even if the crowds are still on the small side, by making a second day a true "race day" they can earn a lot more money.

I remember one of them telling a story on Sirius about them doing a race at Nashville and someone had to do the play by play from atop the rest rooms in the infield. The vent pipes were in a rather bad spot for anyone who had to be up there if you know what I mean
