For some stupid reason when we got our Mercedes it completed the garage in terms of cars with no tape decks.
I also had a Sony K950ES and managed to play a ton of Grateful Dead bootlegs off this. Now that deck is somewhere in the basement in boxes and my tapes are all long gone.
In fact the sole surviving cassette is a recording of the 1989 Who tour from Radio City Music Hall that was broadcasted over Westwood One - which I think is long gone as well.
The reality is the numbers are dropping yet you call the deal 'ahead of its time'. The only end result that can be drerived from that is the series will be broke 'ahead of its time'.
I got Neil Youngs "Harvest" on vinyl which I borrowed from a buddy almost 30 years ago. He was more of a metal head and never asked me about getting it back it and I never mentioned returning it.
I borrowed a few albums from another friend one time and put them in the back seat so I could give them back to him next time I saw him.
They sort of got ruined when it turned hot and the windows were rolled up
I put off telling him about it and after a while we both forgot about them

I could never keep albums long, they all got ruined from use, misuse, or loaned out and came back ruined. CDs were a godsend for me.
When I was a kid, my mom lost a great deal of her album collection (lots of early rock & roll-Elvis, Buddy Holly and the like) when we were moving one sweltering summer day, and my grandfather forgot them in his truck.

The Sound of Deep Ellum - a local cassette I picked up in high school in '87 or so down here, that ultimately was probably "ganked" from 1411 North Jordan sometime in the early 90's. Some artists you'll recognize. Basically the soundtrack of my HS days shotgunning Strawberry Hill and Lone Star's, and sneaking into downtown clubs...
Dallas had a better scene than Seattle late 80's early 90's....IMO.

She was in tears. This was the end of the 1970s, and in a little Oregon town like ours back then, you couldn't exactly run right out and replace a collection like that. She had owned some of those records since she was 11 or 12 and they were brand new.
I remember that one of them was the very first Elvis album (the one the Clash paid tribute to with the cover of London Calling with the green and red lettering) and another was 50,000,000 Elvis Fans Can't Be Wrong.
You know something will get broken whenever you move but you always hope its nothing too valauble or is at least replaceable

In the basement, we have this little room. When my brother washes his clothes, he sits in there listening to vinyl records, mostly country and western. But, he must have hundreds down there.
What I wish, would be that some record company puts out a Norman Luboff album on CD. I got it on vinyl. It is a chorus sing south seas music.

Both disappeared years ago.
And since cassettes have been brought up. Collecting and trading underground doom metal before the digital era meant nothing but cassettes. I used to have some great stuff. But either the tape stretched from so much play or it just disappeared altogether. I've been able to replace some it thru official releases or friends burning it for me. But, most of these replacements have been of poor multi generation quality. But there are still three early demo recordings that I haven't been able to locate. They're like my own personal holy grail.
To a New Yorker like yourself, a hero is some type of weird sandwich. Not some nut who takes on three Tigers!

Of all Albums Sgt Peppers turned up missing. It was probably one of the party deals. A couple years later I found a Parlaphone labeled import with a glossy album cover and the lost one became a faded memory

Years and years ago I had a 4ft x 4ft promotional poster for this album. Disappeared some time in the mid 80's. Hate to think what it might be worth today.

I have the post-crash version which is just them with an all black backgorund. Ive been wanting to find one of the pre-crash copies for 30 years now

You might want to look up Bon Jovi's album sales and tour figures sometime. They're still a major draw, like 'em or not. (And I haven't bought one of their albums since Keep the Faith.)
This Jersey boy cant stand him. My wife LOVES him. Our rule has always been driver chooses the music. Its made for some long rides for me when I see her Bon Jovi cd get put in the car

I did...their biggest seller sold 12 million in the U.S., 28 million worldwide...
To somehow conclude that those numbers equals 100,000,000 fans one has to use the grand old "CART 3-Day Total" math...
And I'm not saying they aren't/weren't hugely popular, but I'm guessing Elvis had/has more fans than Bon Jovi could ever dream of...
As to The Fall...I think they might have tempered their numbers...I'm sure they had 60,000 fans across the globe...
As for the artistic merits of Bon Jovi...they have a few songs I like, some I don't and a bunch I could care less about (my brother will disagree on their merits, of course)...
I do have to say, though, I did like Jon in Ed Burns' "No Looking Back", so I'm at least a little flaky...or misguided...

I had this on cassette, just about wore it out and then lost it somewhere. Later albums were not nearly as good and they broke up.
