I just learned that an elderly gentleman who lived a couple of blocks from me was found dead in his home this morning. His neighbors hadn't seen him since Monday and tried to get him to come to the door this morning. When they could not get an answer they called the police who entered the home and found his body. The A/C was turned off in the home. The high today is supposed to get to 106 here. Check on your neighbors and offer for them to come over if they aren't able to run their A/C.

For our area, thanks to that vicious derecho windstorm that struck at the end of June, we had lost power till the 4th of July. During that time, the heat only increased. Our nearest neighbors are up in their years, and the wife has sugar bad. She had passed out at least five times during the outage, and with no phones period. Not a good time, but they're fine now.
