Even if there was no change in attendance and TV eyeballs, the costs to operate a team would in all likelihood be less, as there would not be the monopoly that Dallara, GM, Honda, Lotus and X-Trac now enjoy. But people generally like to have more intrigue in their racing than less. The legendary cars such as the turbine car, the wedge and the Chaparral were raced under this formula making people like Granatelli, Hall, Watson and Yunick household names in racing circles.
Feeling like John Galt in a world of James Taggarts

Good racing and exposure. NBCSN's coverage has been good, but the network isn't at the top of sports fans' mental Rolodex of places to go.

I'm with Gomer on this one. I guess I'm different from many, I don't ever remember not being a fan.
I'll see YOU at the races!

Unless there's another wreck...which there usually is. So if there's another wreck on the green-flag lap, they'll clean it up and then do ANOTHER GWC, starting over from the top. But if there's a wreck after the white flag comes out, that will be the last lap no matter what. They'll probably let the leaders race to the checkers while a massive multi-car crash unfolds behind them. But if the wreck happens up front and/or it's big enough, they might finish under caution anyway. Simple!

This is supposed to be major league, professional auto racing... correct? Here's a clue, it's not necessary for every race to end in a photo finish.
