I liked the first half, but to me the second half wasn't very coherent. Normally I love Kubrick films but this one left me kinda flat. But that look on Pyle's face when he's going insane is classic Kubrick - great performances by R. Lee Ermy and Vincent D'Onofrio (who put on 70 pounds for the role).
Agreed, it's like two different movies glued together.
