Not every deleted post was taken out by a mod. If you delete your own, it still remains as a blank post.

Some posts are deleted just because they referenced the infraction. You can't assume that all the blank posts contained something in violation of the forum policies.

Does anyone remember the beginning of this thread and what it was about?
You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say can and will be misquoted and used against you.

I agree completely. Never understood the complaints about that forum being right-leaning (save for some of the comments regarding a past moderator). The same thing in reverse goes on at a music forum I visit. People there trend to the left and folks here to the right. Shocking.

For the first dozen years or so I had Internet I loved talking politics. At some point I got tired of internet debating and stopped. But the change was mine. The moderating at this site is really good and I expect it is on the new ce forum, as well. But, if you take out the choir comment in Indyknut's post I suspect it isn't far from the truth (some of the posts in this thread would seem to indicate that). At least some of the time. That doesn't mean it isn't well run or fair. It just has a significant majority on one side.

I vaguely remember something about Thanksgiving, then a fight broke out over the wishbone and then the thread went off the rails, a TF tradition.

    It's a Hoosier thing, you wouldn't understand...

If everybody that complains that the left leaning members are outnumbered would post there instead of complaining about it, conservatives might find themselves outnumbered 2-1.

I'm not complaining if that was your point.

It wasn't. I was agreeing with you.

That was sarcasm, in response to the BSG thing. Come on.

You ignore the point, take it as an attack from the "other" side and then pile on from there. I frankly don't wish to discuss the political talking points of most issues, it's all strongly divisive and both sides do it. It serves no good at all and completely ignores what the real issues are. It's the very reason for political polarization that has ground our country to a halt. Who cares what the other side said or even if it's inaccurate. If one side keeps feeling slighted they need to do a better job of getting their message across. I don't want to talk about the messenger, rather what the message is about and what the solutions are.

A totally inaccurate and outrageous accusation ! To claim that I am responsible for the heinous crime of taking this thread off-topic and then to encourage another poster to " take it up with him " is reprehensible.

I would complain to the moderator but I am sure that such an action would be pointless, since it is indeed doitagain who raised the issue of the Current Events forum, not once, but four times in the responses which he quoted in Post 4. My original post in this thread, which attempted to make the point that over-moderation and avoidance of controversy can lead to the unintended consequence of excluding some innovative and insightful discussion of opposing positions, was simply a continuation of the issues which DIA had introduced.

I recognize that doitagain has made it clear that this thread should be about him and that in truth, his ego can be a nasty thing, but I refuse to accept being pilloried for a crime which I did not commit. My good name (and it is my good name other than the 001 tacked on to the end) is more important to me than the need to turn the other cheek in these situations.

I simply don't think that overreaction should be the norm around here, except...........................................

I've decided that this thread should be about PHJIndy.

    All in favor?

Naw. Something like that does not deserve unanimity.

    Thanks, Ren.

I think the forum has improved however I find there are fewer threads, or maybe it is just fewer threads that interest me in the main forum.

Would it be possible to get an invite to the super secret political forum? I miss lurking in there, more so this year with the election.

    Thanks!

    ___

I have noticed the departure (maybe temporary?) of several prolific posters who are never satisfied with the series that isn't perfect in their minds. Things seem a little more rational so we'll see. Shedding some people who act like they get 'inside information' that is more like wishes they have that won't be coming true and then when people notice they claim it just didn't work out is a good thing.

    ___

    Well, I still enjoy it.

    ___

Yes, I do see a difference in some instances.

It would be a great plus if more of the knowledgeable people would share with us.
Somehow TF hasn't yet appealed to those who can tell us how it really is.

Amusing is the antipathy toward anything related to CART when posted on the board.

    ___

I've been kinda busy the last few weeks, but so far from what I've seen, yeah.

Then again, I haven't seen much, so I guess I could be the Stevie Wonder of the group you're asking here.

    ___

Well, I did notice that some of the usual suspects that post the same stuff over and over haven't posted lately...

Different subject. Any way to get me access to the Current Events forum?

    ___

    I guess not.

    What have you done?

    ___

As a matter of fact it has been 'different', thank you from a long time lurker. Again, thank you for the effort, but most importantly thank you for just being around for all the years,

    ___

I'd say the mods are interfering a little excessively. Such as the Danica "call" thread, this is primarily an Indycar message board so it's fun to contemplate conspiracy theories. It doesn't harm anybody and I don't think anyone took offense, so why close the thread?

    ___

I don't get in on many discussions, more of a "lurker" if you will, I have noticed some attitude changes in some posters so maybe some posters attention has been gotten.

    Thanks for all you do!

    ___

Yes. The NASCAR bashing is at an all time high.

How does that saying go about not joining a group that wants you as a member?
