It looked like a pretty thin crowd, at least on TV. There will be a lot of excuses, but I think the main reason is that the racing isn't all that compelling.

NASCAR fans don't like the fact that you can't see the whole track and I think many have realized that IMS is a terrible NASCAR track.
I'm happy to see that Indy is the King of IMS again.

Actually those concerned who matter sit on the lower levels of the pagoda... Timing and Scoring, Track control and spotters take up the upper levels.

Getting the most out of my hardware for over 40 years
I watch it because it is INDY but having saw the first 5 BY400's and none since i can tell you the lack of what I feel is good racing has kept me from making the 12 hour roundtrip plus extra cash each year.
I did miss the Nationwide race at IRP though, always found that interesting, but understand why they moved it.
