Indy Car push-to-pass change not expected to make much difference

Drivers seem cognizant of the ability of the delayed ptp to make a difference, but they don't expect it will tell the tale in tomorrow's race.

That won't stop the broadcast team from spending the entire race talking about it.

NBCSN staff are manning ESPN on ABC this weekend. It may not be mentioned much.... I hope
Congratulations to RHR, & all the winning drivers & teams in the fantastic 2012 season. Looking forward to 2013!

Personally, I don't care one way or the other. I love Mid-Ohio regardless. It's such a sweet layout and challenge.

Just sayin, Mid Ohio is a horrible circuit for Indycars. Dreadful racing at best. Hopefully Firestone can prove me wrong tomorrow like they did at Barber.

So far, I am not very enthused about push-to-pass. At the end of Edmonton, the chatter on Castroneves's radio was all about when to use push to pass to hold of Sato. Would much rather see overtaking dependent upon driver skill and managing tires that can be pushed to the edge for performance - but with a tradeoff on wear. Plus a whole lot more horsepower. Too much playing to the least common denominator of 'fans' will alienate true enthusiasts. I must say that IndyCar has done a nice job on live timing and scoring and showing push-to-pass therein.
